If skarjo had said that the context could be very different.

Skarjo :x

Skarjo would have an Indian on a Monday, a Chinese on a Tuesday, a Mexican on a Wednesday.....

Depends on the takeaway really. We tend to get a big Mac or something once a month but proper take aways are treats as they so so friggin expensive.

Generally the thought of blowing so much money makes me get the inclination to cook.

Far far too many Takeaways/Deliveroo. Mostly due to laziness.

Deliveroo is also horrible because it's from "decent" restaurants rather than a dirty chippy so more enticing

I realised recently I don't genuinely enjoy takeaways that much.

Chinese started it. I love the salt and chilli ribs at my local, but I've still not found a 'main' that was genuinely delicious. I enjoy the stir-fries I make more, and I know they've got way less salt, fat and sugar.

Indians are ok, but I always end up over-eating. My personal favourite is a balti and the ones in the North East aren't as good as in the Midlands, so I'm always disappointed.

I still get pizza and/or fish and chips from time to time. We have a couple of God-tier chippies near us (given the location, you'd strawberry floating hope so), so they are still good, but I couldn't do it all the time. Maybe once every other month.

For anyone else in the NE, Daniela's in East Boldon is the strawberry floating nuts.

Good point, when Deliveroo started up around our area we may have gone a bit crazy for a while with the takeaways... :shifty:

Only delivery I have is Domino's about once a month. I do love a curry, but the supermarkets & presumably other competition has really done a number on the restaurants round here so my favourites have gradually closed.

In terms of collection, Fish and chips usually every other month, and McDonald's every week during Monopoly.

Pret, Marks and Spencer, Greggs, Upper Crust, Nero, Costa and EAT for coffee, sandwiches and what not.

What puts me off deliveries is that A) it's expensive and B) a lot of food just wasn't designed to travel. Italian pizzas go cold very quickly (and have to be cut in half), fries go limp and cold, milkshakes melt, burgers just end up a mess...

Panorama the other week said the average person - I think under 35 but I may be mistaken - now spends £1000+ on takeaway every year.

I never get takeaways. Generally find that they're overpriced and not really that tasty. Plus, I'm reasonably health-conscious, which is at odds with a lot of takeaways. Any convenience factor is outweighed by the previous points. I find it staggering that people in general spend so much on them and/or go so frequently.

Maybe once or twice a month, including eating out. I’m keeping a tally this year just as an experiment and so far we’ve been out once and had no takeaways.

Within a five minute walk of my flat there is a Chinese, an Indian, a kebab shop, a chippy, a Papa John’s, a weird hybrid of another chippy and a Chinese, another kebab shop and then a third Chinese a little way down the road, and a second Indian a little way up it. In the town centre, about ten minutes walk away, there are a further four Chinese takeaways, another chippy, another kebab shop, a subway which is never open and a dominos. There is also an Italian restaurant, a steakhouse and a “gastropub” in the centre. I know of at least one other chippy within five minutes drive as well. I live in a small town with a tiny main shopping strip.:dread:

Isn't chippy just an abbreviation for fish and chip shop?
