I've been contacted by the organisers of the event to see if someone is interested in representing GRcade in this year's
Mafia Championships.
The representative needs to be chosen by 22nd April. That representative needs to be prepared for a game that could see upwards of 600-700 posts per 24 hours in the early part of the game. They also need to be able to guarantee they can make at least 10 posts per Game Day. From my experiences, it's easy enough to follow along without needing to look at every post. The forum software also makes it easy to look up the posts of individual players, and if I remember right, the vote count is always easily findable. Since it's all automated, there's no issues with votes being missed either.
The qualifier games (of which you'll only play one) will take place between the end of April and mid-June, with the organisers doing their best to put you in a game that suits your preferences for time. The qualifiers will be using the Adapt 6 setup. The full info on that can be found in the Mafia Universe thread, but the short of it is there are six groups of roles, one of which will be randomly assigned to the game for its duration. After the game is complete, the players will vote for who is deserving to go through to the semi-finals. 1st and 2nd will progress to those semi-finals. A jury consisting of finalists from the previous year will also select 27 additional players from across the games.
Both semi-finals and final will use a different setup that is described to be low-powered. The semi-finals will take place in July-August, with the final sometime in August-September. The players of each game will again vote for who they think the best player is, with the top five from each semi-final proceeding to the final. There can only be one winner for that final, who will be crowned Season 10 Champion and be awarded a certificate signed by Dmitry Davidoff - the creator of mafia.
So, are you ready for Season 10 of the Mafia Championships?
