Well, yes there is always that (very tiny) chance. As I said, though, if I'm a seer, I am accounting for that by determining who is absolutely a 100% villager during Day 1. My first job is to find an outlet to pass information onto. Once I've got that, then I'll start looking for mafia.

Qikzmas wrote:People are very conservative when they play as a role - see Lagamorph and Hypes barely shooting anyone and none of the roles going to sawyer when I was literally begging them to when I knew 100% that Sawyer was an elf.

I don't think conservatism (in the game, much like life) does the town any favours - the exception is the vigilante role, because at the start of the game you're far more likely to take out an innocent. Hypes and Laga did the right thing by holding onto their bullets - and I'd argue they did the town a favour by offing Cora because it prevented the town from wasting a day chasing a dead lead (that extra day, as it turned out, was crucial).

Qikzmas wrote:I think if you're going to give less precise information then the alpha cannot have seer invunerability. It makes the seer role essentially useless for the town, because they can not only scan a bad guy on day 1 by complete chance and not know, but because of that fact they can't technically trust anyone that they've seered at any point in the game. There's no way for anyone to confirm anyones innocence.

Well, it evidently doesn't make them useless, they still have the ability to locate regular mafia.

I would like to hear opinions on this.

Agree with all this. If you're a seer, there's the smallest of chances you're going to seer the alpha on the first night.
Also, yes, Laga and I played conservatively by not shooting our loads in the first couple of days and randomly killing when we were most likely going to hit villagers. That's a good thing. Not shooting anyone is the second best thing a vigi can do. The best would be hitting a Grinch, but it would be worse to kill a villager and even worse to kill a good special like a seer.
It's all a numbers and percentages game

How did you find it having a special role?

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

It would have been good to use it! I didn't really play any different as I would to a villager I don't think, perhaps tried voting/accusing people a bit more to gauge their reactions and try to deduct something from that. Thought I'd try and keep my powder dry rather than probably killing an innocent.
Finding out I wasn't the only Rudolph was a surprise, I had to double check I hadn't sent you a pm, and then I wondered if you'd allocated someone else's kill to me!

That's not what you said yesterday.

Can't believe we didn't pick up on this! :slol: :fp:

Any interesting reflective anecdotes come from it?

A few. I wish we'd gone for IronHide over Qikz! I think the thread would have turned on Qikz at that point and we'd have won (particularly if we didn't also lose Banjo).
Mainly just how much I enjoyed it

I somehow forgot I was one of the surviving winning villagers - that was a great re-read

We really need another game to get announced soon, they are such a highlight in my barren social calendar
