Are You A Hitman? - Game Thread --Game Ended--

Do we want to try and appeal to the bodyguards to use a power this night phase or is it too early in the game to risk wasting our only method of defense?

Generally speaking, in these games it is best to try and hold onto single-use abilities until either a critical point in the game or when a mass of information comes to light and an ability can be used to settle some of the resulting questions (read: conspiracies). But let's take a look at the Bodyguard abilities:

-Stone Cold Vigil: Keep watch over one player for anyone that targets them. No protection offered for that target during night kill.

This seems like an observational role whereby if the Bodyguard is able to successfully deduce the Hitmen's target, he'll be able to report back to the thread advising "X killed Y, X is a Hitman, bake him away, toys". Very low chance right now of being able to guess this so I'd try and hold on for a while until the field has been thinned.

-Suspicious Eye: Watches one player from afar to see what actions they might take.

This is probably the one I'd consider using first, purely because it's easier IMO to try and identify Hitmen that guess who they might kill.

-Sacrificial Watch: Targets a player to watch over. If attacked during the night, you will protect them but be taken out yourself.

This one seems like a last-ditch measure and we are nowhere near needing this yet.

OP says there are 6 Hitmen. If we are lynching one player per day and they are also offing one player per day, we have five days left to kill at least one of them which is much shorter than other games we've had. Based on that I'd look at using the first two Bodyguard abilities in the next 2 or 3 days (the last one won't prevent them getting a kill, just not their intended target, meaning our numbers will still drop).

Sorry Tsunade. The good news is that quite a lot of people voted which will hopefully come in useful later, although 9 abstained or didn't bother, which is a shame.

Feel bad for Tsunade but it was a good start in terms of a lot of votes and a conflicted vote. That's better than a lot of our games go, considering an innocent lynch is most likely.

Considering Zilnad was only saved from a tie by his own vote, I'm leaning towards innocent for him too. Alternatively if he is a hitman I'd expect none of those voting for him to be one as that would have been a very risky play!

The Abstains seem a good place to investigate right now in my head.

I mean you could easily that there was no leads so why vote to kill a random, but that's also why it would be a good place to hide.

That's probably a better place to look than those who voted for someone actually. The first vote is always going to be random so those who abstain are clearly more worried about giving away any kind of hints with a past vote or pattern in their voting.

I would say those who were active but didn't cast any vote (IE didn't even vote to abstain) deserve the most suspicion.

I said at the end of the last game that I was going to stop doing them as it just gets me killed! We've got a lower player count this time so hopefully we should be able to monitor activity without it

Not sure how much we've still go to go on after the usual day 1 free for all. Going for abstainers seems odd as it's a clear position that someone has stated, for me it's the people who were active (or at least aware the game was happening) but who didn't vote that seem more likely to be bad 'uns

Night One Ends

Tomous had heard the exchange that had been going on behind him, and so had quickened his pace. He wasn't sure which side he was more scared of, but despite it being a sunny day, he felt the unknown that darkness brought pressing in all around him. He hoped that any trouble wouldn't be following him and that he'd be able to get the medical personnel to where he needed them to be.

At first, there was no-one inside the building. "Hello?" he called apprehensively. From out of the nearest door, a doctor wearing a mask appeared. "You look scared almost to death," the doctor stated. "Come in here. Calm down a bit." The voice seemed a bit familiar, but deeper to Tomous. However, he knew he needed to calm down.

Inside the room, Tomous sat down on one of the chairs while the doctor rummaged within one of his cupboards. From out of it, he held a rusty spoon up to the light. "I like rusty spoons," the doctor commented vaguely. "They have a more interesting texture than that of a regular spoon. And depending on how rusty it is, it can easily break."

"That's... that's very interesting," Tomous said. Despite hoping for reassurance from this doctor, he felt nothing but a growing dread and no way to escape. He noticed that the doctor had locked the door upon looking that way.

"I know what you're trying to do, and what you're working up to doing," the doctor said, still with his back to Tomous. Tomous had no choice, though. Even if this doctor - if that's who he really was - knew what he was about to do. Taking in a deep breath, he opened his mouth to scream out to the world, but suddenly found a face right up close to him and a rusty spoon wedged solidly in his mouth.

His eyes welled up with tears as he immediately started choking. Despite knowing it was a bad idea, he tried to get away. Move himself off the chair that he had refused to leave. And now, even through the water in his eyes, he recognised the eyes, and knew the entire group had been betrayed by people they thought they could trust. The fake doctor must have seen the recognition in his eyes, as he said "Now you know what will happen to all your friends. But for you, it is too late to warn them."

The hitman kept the spoon within the mouth of his victim even after the struggling had stopped. Quickly stripping down, he replaced his regular clothes. Only the gloves of the doctor's outfit he kept. Placing the clothes underneath the desk, he turned to the inert body. Without removing the spoon, which now seemed to have lodged itself deeper within the throat, he opened the one window of the room and chucked the body out of it.

Let them find it, the hitman thought. Let them see how easy this is for us. Closing the window again, the hitman walked to the door; listened for anyone who might be outside it. Confident it was clear, he strolled out of the room, out of the building, and continued to the hideout without a care in the world, knowing with certainty that

Tomous was eliminated.
