Going to be playing through everything this afternoon. Rest assured my votes will be submitted in a timely manner, Cheeky.

Bit disappointed about Jawa, seems the drama could've easily been avoided and his input will be missed.

Votes are now closed and results will be at 9pm as usual.

Just realised I've not came up with the guidelines for week 3 yet. :fp:

I'll get them written up and posted later on tonight.

Week 3 Guidelines!

Mushroom Group

Yes it's the return of one of my favourite weeks from the previous contests!

Some of the more memorable moments from Mario games have been the boss battles and that's exactly what I task you with creating this week.

You are to create a level that has a memorable Boss Fight. I don't want to see a Bowser just sitting on a bridge that I can jump over. I want some thing that feels like a boss fight. How you go about that is up to you. You can make the boss fight the sole focus of the level, or you can make it the crescendo that your level builds to. You could even have a Boss gauntlet with several mini-encounters.

ALL items and styles are open to you so let your imaginations run wild.

You have until 8pm Sunday 12th of April to submit your levels to me by PM.
- Do not post the level in the thread, or on the level database. I will post to the thread once the 8pm deadline has passed and I am ready to release them.
- Your PM should include the name of the level and the code.

Good luck!

The original Mario Maker had quite limited things you could do with Lava and Water.
Now however we have far more control and I want to see what you can do with them.

You could give us a tricky water level, an escape from an erupting volcano, or mix them together somehow. Regardless, interaction with the water/lava should be a key element of the level.

I'm also going to restrict you to using Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World, though you can use any of the level types you wish.

Interesting themes this week! Sort of glad I've avoided the boss fight given I'd just made one for the Zelda level

Yeah very interested to see what we get out of this weeks levels. I've got a couple of ideas that I've been thinking about in terms of boss fights for a while now, I'd be holding onto them as I thought we would get a boss round at some point!

Struggling with this week at the moment - it's a bit frustrating that rising water/lava are only on one level type each!

Already thrown away a couple of ideas, will have another bash at it tonight

Same, I've abandoned a couple of ideas so far. Hopeful that my current iteration has some life in it...

I've figured out a concept I like, but I'm struggling hard with the execution so far. :slol:

Any issues with joining in but not contributing to levels?

You mean following along with the guidelines, but not being part of the contest?

No problem at all.

Ah right.

Yeah if you want to submit rankings for the levels then that's fine as well. :D
