Basically each week makers are assigned a set of guidelines that they have to design a level around.
You may be asked to create an underwater autoscroller (Not likely ), a cunning puzzle level or the most intense Boss Battle you can.
Each maker has a week to create their level and submit it to me. I then post the levels in the thread and invite everyone to vote for their favourites.
After a few days of voting the scores are tallied and the results announced LIVE on the GRcade Twitch channel.
This continues for several weeks (Usually around 8) and then we start eliminating players until we are down to the final two.
The final usually consists of the makers submitting four levels each in order to determine who GRcades Master Mario Maker is.

The exact process will be decided once I see how many makers we have and I'll post a clear breakdown of what that is once it's decided.

If you want to see what the finals can look like, then go no further than the streams from the 2nd tournament.

So yeah. It's coming and hopefully in the next week or two we'll be getting underway!

So to sign up just post "IN" in the thread and we'll give it a few days to see what we have to work with!

I haven't put much time into this - is there a quick way to unlock all the tools or is everything unlocked at the start? I'll try playing around with this when I have some free time.

Everything is unlocked at the start apart from two powerups that are unlocked through story mode

It's not like the original game where you had to unlock everything

Cheers, I'll go back to the story mode as I quite enjoyed what I played of it and then tinker with the creation mode.

No Switch = I'm out.

Would like to be able to vote if possible, though - based on the Cheeky's playthroughs.

Is there any way that would be possible, given that some of the votes in previous competitions were submitted on the same basis (no names mentioned!)

Been giving this some thought and I'm really sorry to have to say I cant. Firstly I dont own MM2 and having recently bought Animal Crossing I cant really go and buy another game (and no Dragon you are not buying me it again). I'm also going to be pushed for time. I've got art I really need to get back to making and work. Then I've got stuff unplayed I really want to get to and AC will demand me to play it. Plus this is the sort of thing I would really want to apply myself to in an attempt to meet the standards I've set before. I dont want to half ass it because I'm rushing. Sorry all. I will however love to follow the events and will be watching the streams. I'm not sure how I personally feel about voting without playing but I'll consider doing that.

Also if I cant VOTE LIME then whats the point anyway.

Don't worry about dropping in/out. While it is a competition, at the end of the day it's an excuse to make some games and watch me swear at them/you on stream. :toot:

I've been thinking about this and I'm gonna take a break from makin' this time around. I have the game but I've barely played it; I think I kinda burnt out my level-making creativity in the past couple of competitions on the U version. I feel bad not entering because it is great fun but at the moment I just don't have the drive - I've not been playing many games in the past few months.

I hope that the competition is awesome - it's good to see a number of folk entering! - and I'll probably try out some of the levels made :-) .
