I’m pretty sure you’re right Karl, it’s where my head was at when I submitted anyway! The boss I was working on is still in their somewhere if Devlin can break it and find it ;)

Speaking of submission @cheekydevlin, I have sent you the level, but for some reason it’s sitting it my outbox. I assume it will send before the deadline, but if not, please can you grab it from your following me on MM?

(Outbox just means he hasn't read it yet - I'm sure he'll get it when he logs in next :) )

I've been running into this problem on quite a few weeks - it has been hard to fit in any time to work on the levels until Saturday night on a few occasions which doesn't leave much room for testing and evolving ideas!

Where Mario Maker is concerned I think Devlin might be approaching Hulk territory now where his secret is that he's always angry! :slol:

I'd encourage people to give my level a go! It's not as hard as it looks. It's the kind of level where you are likely to die a few times while you figure it all out, but it's deliberately very short and has checkpoints!

(And it has the Mario Galaxy music to keep your spirits up! It's actually inspired by those Galaxy bits where you kind of blast off and land on the bottom of another bit of the level! :P )

The second half of your level is rock-hard Qikz! I enjoyed what I saw, it's a great concept, but I'm not sure I'm quick enough to finish it!

 Poor Devlin.

It's no bother at all (I completely understand it!), but with the new "five lives rule" I think people who are interested in maybe making slightly more challenging platformy levels will just have to accept that they won't be fully showcased on stream. As I said last night, I don't mind at all, I can see he needs to move on when he gets stuck. Hopefully he'll enjoy it more when he can sit down with it properly with no time constraints. :D

I always hope to play them all anyway, but I'll definitely be prioritising playing the ones that we didn't get through.

I think with my level people need to be a little bit more brazen. When Devlin was doing it he was very much going too slowly - you can go quicker than you'd think!

Do you play on a D-pad Qikz? I find my thumb wobbles on the analogue stick and I end up shooting off into walls   maybe I'll get my fightpad that has a D-pad and give it another go!

I liked the look of all the levels on the stream (as always really!) so I'm looking forward to giving them all a go!

Thought it was great that even though all of us had the same guidelines we ended up with a really varied bunch of ideas on display.

Thoughts on my level development this week:
I hadn't really had much chance to read about or explore the changes for the night mode option, my notes file for this week was literally just one line:

* read the wiki page on night/moon changes

So that was why I went with a more traditional "Angry Sun" level initially as that was a mechanic that I understood well enough to begin with, and it was a chance to make a desert style level which is something I was wanting to do anyway! Then when I found I had a bit more time available to me I decided to expand things to incorporate a night mode area as well.

I made the area where you enter the pipe to get to the night mode section happen after the goal so that the background had turned dark as a way to try and indicate the change from day to night. I mentioned on stream that the original plan for the night section was to be an inverted vertical scroller - I kept with that plan for quite a while but eventually ditched it because the act of moving upside down felt like it was challenging enough!

Ideally I would have had a look at some of the other changes that night mode added and played about with those but in the end I was pretty happy with how the combination of the day and night sections of my level turned out.

I noticed a death marker in the second part of that section. Yours? If so then kudos on making it that far!

Oh no, unfortunately not. I wasn't even sure what to do in the first part, the shell jumping was too demanding for me I'm afraid!

So I got to 70 coins in Qikz' Balloon Rush. I do suspect it might've been better had there been less spikes, or even non at all - to balance this out, maybe you could've had the poison rise at a faster rate? Sorry I didn't complete the level, but I gave it my all! :toot:

And as has been the case with most weeks, I found Rakoon's use of props and Cyborg's penchant for puzzles and tightly framed challenges rather cute and competently made respectively. N-not that they're mutually exclusive or anything!

Really need to crack on playing these. Just had a quick few goes at Qikz' balloon race and got to 89, the end is in sight!

I don't find the control too hard it just getting enough speed to grab that 100th coin which is eluding me at the moment!
