Well Mario heeded that advice but didn't pay much attention to where he went next and it has definitely been a case of 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' as he has only gone and found himself trapped in some fiery hell-scape from which it will take more than psychedelic mushrooms to escape!

That's right we're into the semi-finals of AYAMMM 2021 and things are really starting to heat up! The goal for our final 4 Mario Makers this time is to make a Lava based level! with a specific focus on channelling the feel of classic kids game
"the floor is lava" - we want Mario to really feel the heat and never quite feel like he's standing on safe ground!

The conditions here are that you must use the Caste Theme to allow your level to contain lava (I'll also allow the use of the Forest Night Theme as this turns the water into poison which is essentially the same thing)

In addition you should make heavy use of the various forms of moving/temporary parts for Mario to stand on - we don't want too much solid ground for our plumber to chill out on! Moving lifts, snake blocks, donut blocks, flimsy lifts, enemies you can stand on - they're all fair game to help make a level where Mario feels like he's only ever one step from landing in the lava!

I'm not going to put a limit on the use of actual solid ground in the level as I don't want to be too pedantic about it, but the overall feel should be one of lacking safe spaces in the level to kick back in! For example a large ground platform where you can just stand there and take stock indefinitely = bad, but that same platform where the lava is rising to kill you or a buzzsaw is approaching to slice Mario in two or even where the autoscroll will shove you into the lava if you're not careful - those are all fine!

Played through the Round 7 levels again over last night, you guys have really set a very high standard! Very interested to see how the rankings look at the end of this round.

How are people getting on with their lava levels? Everything flowing smoothly or is anyone getting a bit hot and bothered?

I've not started mine yet, I want to make something that's not just a lava level if that makes sense.

Have absolutely no idea what to do about this lava level and it's not looking like I'm going to get a lot of time to work on it. Ho hum!

Won't be happening this week I'm afraid, I have too much on.

I have just had a good play of all of them though, tough week as always but going to mull it over and put my rankings in a bit later!

Ive done my next level but might do another.

I have a level but I'm struggling with the name, which is a bit backwards from how I normally work! The lava guidelines feel more directed than most but I like that coming off the back of the very open franchise homage round. I still think there is lots to be done with lava that might be surprising (as, hopefully, the mechanics I've centred around are).

Yeah I was trying to bring things back to a more clear cut set of guidelines for the semis. We'll see how it works out!

Ive submitted mine although it will be unofficial by next week. I do have another which I may or may bot upload
