It's ok, I have very little faith in the basic gaming ability of the majority of Mario Maker players (even compared to myself) so I would take no heed of the ratio. The internet would have you believe Mario Maker is a hive of kaizo speedrunners but it's actually mostly played by children holding the Switch upside down.

This is why I do not replay my level after submitting it

Just watched a bit of the stream back now, how I missed that third red coin in RKN's level? :fp:

 I made sure they would all appear on screen but that last one is definitely the least obvious to be fair!

Looking forward to playing these through. If anyone wants an extra challenge (and an almost guaranteed speedrun record) it's possible to do my level without ever picking up an SMB2 power-up. I would be very impressed though, it is definitely far too difficult an alternate path :P

Just watched the stream, thanks Jenuall for hosting again, another entertaining watch. Great levels all round this week, and I've learned more things you can do in game thast I wasn't aware of:

There are different Mario character themes, meaning you can stand on bullet bills.

You can slash at stuff as cat Mario to change it's direction.

I played a few of these yesterday and really enjoyed them. Hope to play the rest of them tonight, as well as catch up with some of your previous offerings.

Good showing of the.levels last night. I can see its going to be be bloody hard to rank the levels again, both round 1 and 2 I really struggled to rank the levels as I've enjoyed them all. You guys need to stop being good

The code is as it was given to me so unless Victor copied it wrong into the PM it should be correct?

If all else fails you can bring up his profile in game from his previous level to get to it (also add people to your favourites/follow list and then you get visibility of their new levels automatically)

Definitely click through to people's profiles and "star" them, much easier than putting codes in!

Anyone interested in some Round 4 guidelines? Oh, go on then:

Round 4 Guidelines
Image
Remember Game & Watch? Those funny little hand held single screen game toys that Nintendo made in the 80s? Remember how they were all a bit crap? Well now's your chance to channel your inner Gunpei Yokoi and make your own single screen game! (Only try to make it less rubbish than the real ones) :toot:

Oh yes, it's a return of one of the favourite rounds from previous AYAMMM competitions, the One Screen Wonder! This is a test of your ability to make an entertaining Mario experience within the confines of a single screen of play space. That's right, everything from the starting point to the end goal must exist within a single screen!

There are no part or theme limitations this round, you can do whatever you like within that one screen of space - a maze, a puzzle, a compact platforming challenge, or anything else you can think of!

The "play space" available to Mario must be within the limits of a single screen (24 blocks wide x 14 blocks tall). The end goal (flag, axe, fruit machine etc.) must be inside this single screen space, but the space beyond the goal (e.g. the end castle) does not count towards the active space and so can be beyond the 24 block width limit - as such horizontal scrolling caused by these end areas is acceptable.

Course parts such as tracks or elements used to events/timing can be outside the limits of this single screen space

The only vertical scrolling allowed is the single block scroll used when Mario "runs across the top of the level (this is achieved by allowing Mario above 14 blocks high when there is no level content present above that point)

Simple rule of thumb: the player should be able to see all of the playable area of the level as soon as it loads and at no point whilst the player is in control of Mario should he move beyond the 24x14 block single screen space (with the exception of the running on top of the level scenario above)

So, will this round be your "Fame & Watch" moment to shine, or will it be more of a "Game & Botch" situation?! Let's find out...

Submission deadline is 8pm Sunday 21st of March - send your level name and code to me via PM.
- Do not post the level in the thread or otherwise share it with anyone beforehand.

Shocked you never added “Rubix” after that mention of no scrolling :slol:

Does the castle at the end have to be on the screen or just the flag?

Love this round :toot:

A question which I'm not sure will be relevant but I want to have a play with the mechanic - if the screen is locked and Mario can never leave it, is it ok to have a track that moves objects off-screen? i.e. use solid blocks to screen lock vertically but have tracks that move off the top of the screen
