Is the name of Karl's level an indie game reference???

Kind of, but I think there are a few indie games that have titles like that? I obviously thought a bit of OrangeRKN's second-favourite game Celeste while making it, just because of the climbing a mountain premise (I've never played it though!). Specifically the name is a reference to a B-game that Bennett Foddy talks about in Getting Over It, called Sexy Hiking.

I was going to call it "Depression Mountain" in reference to Celeste's story to wind OrangeRKN up, but I thought it might put people off playing the level...

Haha, I assumed Celeste was a reference point which was nice. Karl is clearly coming around to the indie way of life!

It makes a lot of sense that Karl is secretely a Ben Foddy fan. Probably hates indie games because he couldn't reach the end of QWOP like a true gamer

I do like Bennett Foddy actually! I think he's very clever!

It's not like I dislike Maddy Thorson or anything either! I just prefer their earlier works! I was actually a huge fan of Runman: Race Around The World back in the day!

Karl’s course has shown me that I am gooseberry fool at wall jumping

Going to do the same as last time and play through each to completion twice, mark them on the second run through than submit my results. I will than go onto play through ones I feel will be a good speed run. Although I think I’ll struggle setting good times based on my current run through so far.

For those playing my level, I've built several routes in to it, so you can skip switch parts, or use them so shortcut something by leaving in a certain state. Also the cannonballs can be jumped off, and there's intentional speed run shortcuts.

I point this out because Jenuall blitzed through the level and didn't see them. It's built for speed runs on multiple plays.

Same with mine, it has two options but you actually can cross over to one to the other

I liked the use of the ON/OFF switches and blocks in your level Victor, there was clearly plenty that could be done to streamline the route by making good use of the states!

There's probably a faster route, but here is the current WR with no switches



I also did a no switch run of Karl's level just to prove I could - I don't think it's quicker though! (Possibly bits of it might be? I haven't tried it again with good execution)

Speaking of, once again OSC has done something I didn't know was possible in his level (and in fact, I thought it was impossible and was one of my biggest wishes for the game??). How does he have mushrooms in blocks that will optionally be fire flowers if you already have a mushroom? I didn't think you could do that!

You hold on to a fireflower and you can attach a mushroom to it.
