I need a larger controller. Should probably try to clean my PowerA GCN one to see if that gets rid of whatever's wrong with it. The Joy-Con - for as versatile as they are - make any sort of skillful platforming a pain in the ass.

Just to clarify, when you say bullet bill, does that mean the little cannon guys, or do you mean the big banzai one?

All varieties are acceptable: big, small, red or black!

I've settled on an idea for the next round now :toot:

Mario Maker without a d-pad is less-than-ideal, that's for sure. I use a hori d-pad joycon (but it's handheld only).

I've not had that much chance to chase the speed runs this week either, I've still got the record on a couple of the levels I think, which is good enough for me to be satisfied!

I actually prefer making in hand held because the combination of button and touch is much more efficient and intuitive to the way I work, I've never quite got the hang of the making controls when docked.

Other than when I do the streams on Sunday's I play exclusively handheld with the standard joy-cons, they're perfectly fine for this IMO. All my speed run times are achieved using this setup. :datass:

I'm fine on the stick. It's the buttons that keep getting me twisted. Missing jumps 'cus I fail to push down on A, or doing it a bit later than needed and failing elsewhere. In handheld mode I'd probably do fine, but quick reactions on those things separated - even with the strap attachments - is a nightmare.

I'm all over the claw grip for playing Mario stuff now as well, I'm probably going to have wrecked my hands for when I'm older but it's all worth it in chasing those speed records! :toot:

Ah, maybe you should try out the PSP monster hunter games instead of Rise then

Not quite.

The next round is to recreate the pachinko machine level from Mario Sunshine. :dread:

A pachinko machine! Dammit! That would have been perfect for the last round.

Pretty proud of breaking the 1 minute barrier on Qikz's level (00:55.496).

I think with better execution 00:53ish is possible!
