I love these games but we'll burn out if we have too many.

Agreed. I wasn't sure enough time had passed since MMAYAV (August) to be running this. I reckon an AYAW type game is probably right every 8-10 months with a couple of other unrelated games in between.

I personally think there's room for any amount of games if people want to play them. I think in terms of a huge game it's better to have them infrequently, but frequent smaller Mafia games have their place since there's always people willing to play things. Especially when you have people complaining that there's never anything to do on the forum.

I'd argue it's beneficial to have more forum games if the interest is there. The only person who it really effects timewise overall is the organiser, but if you have frequent games hosted by different people you remove that problem. It also depends on how the game is run too. If every game had the same rules then I'd say it wouldn't make sense to keep doing them, but with differing rules it's cool to keep playing since every game should be different and play out differently depending on what roles there are and who gets them.

It'd have to be significantly smaller though. And if it was too similar you'd run the risk of people just getting bored with the format.

If people get bored then they don't play and the games stop for a while. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't think it should be too hard to find 12-16 people for a smaller game every month, even if it's different people all the time and that's the format I'm going to go with. Perhaps I should move this over to the game discussion thread.

I can't see anyone having any problems with that.

I'd like to see a couple of different formats tried out before another AYA game.

Two Rooms and a Boom seems like an obvious candidate for a forum game, but I probably had the *most* fun when we were doing adventure-style games like when Tiarny ran that Resident Evil game or that one where we were on a desert island. So something of a D&D "lite" would be more engaging as a player, but requires a lot more effort on the part of the person running it.

The only problem I could foresee is that people might become tired with small monthly versions of these games and not really have any desire or excitement to participate in the big games, which would be a real shame.

jigs, what is Two Rooms and a Boom?

That's the base roles game, but like Werewolves, there's a ton of special roles you can add to mix things up a bit.

Two Rooms and a Boom would certainly work, but I think it'll need a bit more structure to the convention version.
