£12.99 for a new Nintendo controller is what caught my eye there. Bit less than the £70 they're after these days.

3rd party though :dread:

Ooooh couldn't tell with the tiny image. I retract my statement.

3rd party N64 controllers :dread:

Looks more ergonomic than the official one.

Prince was right, rest his soul, no wonder he always wanted to party like it was 1999  :toot:.

I think I got that bundle :datass:

I bought more games for the Gamecube than any other console.

1997, and Christmas is ruined as your parents have bought you a SEGA Saturn. Or worse! Some old 2D tat that only plays games in black and white. You throw the turkey out the window and call your Mum a slag. Dad goes to the pub:

Your Mum correctly remembered it was page 415 she needed. Destruction Derby 2 is purchased. Christmas is saved:

In its lifetime the only console I had more games for was the 360(I've now got more N64 games as well) - the GC was great value for money.

Ahh, the memories of every November going through the toy section to see what had been bought. My mam had a system, you see, that was very simple I'm surprised she didn't know I'd worked it out.

Anything with the number circled was something she intended to buy. When the circle had a cross through it, the item was bought and was a sure-fire Christmas present.

For a young kid the Argos catalogue truly was the book of dreams. I loved it when a new edition came out because I would flip through the pages admiring and wishing over all the toys I would never have.

I remember in the old olde days the gym equipment and bathroom section would always have a pert woman posing provocatively! And the catalogues were larger, and before going green, had thicker paper with more vibrant colours. But the thing I will miss most of all is that new catalogue smell, I would sniff away - I loved it!

Honourable mention to Index by Littlewoods that tried so hard in the nineties that none of you hooligans even remember.

I remember Index, they had a store in Exeter's Guildhall centre.

Yeah I remember Index as well (it wasn't always associated with Littlewoods I don't think?)

Even as a kid though you just knew Argos was the superior catalogue store :datass:

As far as I'm aware, literally the only thing my Mum ever purchased for me from Index:

This would have been my last week of work if it hadn't been for the Coronavirus. 2/3 of my team were made redundant on the last week before lock down. Surprised it has taken this long for them to stop printing it to be honest, they have been trying to do it for the last few years.

Indeed. About 80-100 of us were told earlier this week that we'd all be losing our jobs in October as they've decided to outsource our roles to a company in India. Our department isn't even to do with the catalogue itself. We're almost entirely dedicated to the digital side of the business - guess it's cheaper to have it done in Mumbai for a company that has come out of this pandemic doing very, very well for itself.

I loved it as a kid but it is pointless to print now.

It's like in Wales. With any letters sent (hospitals, council etc) they waste DOUBLE the amount of paper to print everything off in gobbeldigook. I argue and argue that it's just a waste of paper, and then all my homeboys call me unpatriotic. strawberry floaters can't speak welsh themselves.
