Just started watching this. First episode was a bit hit and miss (mostly miss) but the second -

"You're welcome to my friends, brother."

"I don't want these."

Didn't know there was going to be a 5th series. I'll now take back my ending comment if the last episode in series 4 is not the last episode ever.

Yes?

It seems likely. They're unofficially officially in negotiations with Netflix.

And this hidden joke, from the same scene:
"Fine, but I'm gonna sit opposite you so it won't look bad."

Only caught the meaning the second time I watched it.

At this point I can't really see them doing a film. Considering how they made some of the eps for season 4 nearly 40 minutes, they seem to prefer this method. Considering Netflix will basically let them indulge themselves as much as they want, and the fact they did, I can't imagine they'll be satisfied with just a single film to wrap up the story. Hopefully they will get all the cast together properly for a 5th season.

So I've finished Season 4 and I thought it was pretty good. I thought it had more laugh out loud moments than the other series', but felt like it was trying too hard in places. I also really think splitting the family up so much was a misstep, as was what they did to George Sr. - they basically took away everything that makes him such a great character.

Also the first few episodes are completely bewildering and all just kind of serve to set up the later ones. They don't hold up on their own, at all.

Maybe I need to rewatch it but what's the hidden joke there?

They'd have to use CGI if George and Oscar were to sit next to each other.

Or, you know, a split screen. ;)

Ah. That's quite a good one.

A lot of the other self referential stuff was what I was talking about when I said it was a bit too try-hard in places.

I think Will Arnett was underused in places, too. Another problem with having them all split up. He's got the ability to just chip in with a line of dialogue and make something hilarious.

"The much vaunted 'yes'!"

Got the gf into this now. Loved watching it from the start again and finding all of these nods to future events.

I also never realised that the actress who plays Lindsey is the one who is gay but pretending to be straight, as opposed to the character of her husband.

Here's hoping they manage to get all the cast together at the same time for this one.

Now that Cera's 'star' is burning a little less brightly, hopefully that'll be possible... although Tambor's now a big deal given his plaudits for Transparent. Here's hoping.

I haven't checked out season 4 yet. I'm not sure I want to. The show was so strong in its 1st and 2nd season. They surely can't repeat that.

The look of sheer horror on Michael's face when his son is talking about Ann eating. It's probably the funniest thing I've seen in a comedy.

She calls it a "mayonegg".

I for one thought season 4 was great. Perhaps not as laugh-out-loud funny on the whole but still full of amazing moments and sight gags. The first few episodes were a bit of a slog but are worth rewatching once you've seen the rest of the series.

I hope they stick to a set episode length this time around. Season 4 felt a bit too... self-indulgent at times. Recent Netflix shows seem to, so I'm hopeful.

I had to stop season 4 at around episode 9 or so. It just became a chore, repeating the same events over and over from a different angle.

For the love of god, get the gang back together in the same studio this time. I can't believe Cera was the 'star' to stop this happening last time. If anything Arnet, Bateman and Tambor are bigger now.
