Aw your just saying that cause you were pissing yourself as we were lynching each other. ^^
You just dont get the same europhia you get from finding and lynching a wolf or silly vigilante. :)

Was still a laugh.

Oh, and I know you say we played a proper AYAW, but chasing ghosts isn't exactly the same for us players as chasing Wolves, even if we play the same. There is no reward in it for a start. The reason we are all eager to go again is because we all feel empty.

Oh, and by the by, those that go on about "what are the chances of being a wolf twice etc", if you want some insane odds, I've been a seer twice in the five games I've played.

No werewolves, yet I get wolf killed :x

And strawberry float you DML I spent hours earlier catching up whilst suffering from some sort of delirious head cold, I checked the thread about 10 times in case I'd nodded off and dreamt this "twist" :(

Is there not some way a second game could be set up, but with control roles for those who played the wolf-free version and don't want to invest their energies again so soon? Like helping DML run it, or deciding the contents of chests, coming up with special roles, playing a part in the introduction of in-game events that change the way the game runs its course, etc.

I'm sure there will be another one in the not so distant future for everyone who wants to.

Very true! We did play pretty much identically. But what is slightly alarming- and this may just be retrospect speaking- is how different it felt. It was clear from about a week in that something wasn't quite right; we were playing, we felt, very well- we'd explored most of, if not all our avenues of investigation. When big players were being killed, we targetted semi-inactives. When that failed, we targetted those who were 'leading the thread'. What was upsetting was not just how the wolves managed to stay out of our line of fire when we fired pretty much everywhere, but also that they got our special roles so quickly, leaving no real trace.

But what was most interesting is that we (I) always felt we were flying blind. At no point did we really feel that we'd got a wolf. Every vote, besides Melatonin's was one made in hesitation and uncertainty- read back and compare the number of times we had 'voted x, not convinced he's a wolf, but probably the best lead' to the times we went 'he must be a wolf'. The former far outnumber the latter. Without the wolves intervening, controlling things, leaving false trails, and occassionally slipping up, we never had the feeling of real disappointment at a lynch-gone-wrong, and never the feeling of really sinking our claws into a target, building a solid case against them, and a sudden frenzy to lynch them. These feelings are common in the normal game, and this one was marked, I think for the feeling of constant hopelessness, as opposed to a focused optimism that is a staple of the game, despite the fact that (I felt) we were playing a very focused, collected game.

After a week had past, I think a lot of us moved from respect for the wolf players, to awe, and eventually to thinking that something was most definately up.

Captain is immune for a night and also I felt I wasn't active enough so decide to become very active on the weekend. Also, no one was going to try and lynch G-Rat despite my theory so didn't want any wolves to become captain.

Oh, and I could have survived that lynch.

Drawlights is the best summary yet. It did feel off. I remember looking at things right after I'd been shot and realising that most of my reasoning behind Smurphy's character assassination was that, as ridiculous as it was, there couldn't possibly be any other explanation. The vibe was off wthin the thread too, no doubt due to the steady drop in morale as time went on, but just in the way the most simple, innocent things became worthy of huge suspicion. I'll no doubt look back on the aftermath for a long time, but I dont actually think I miss the game itself this time.

While playing I got the feeling that DML didn't really care about the game that much. He seemed different than he usually is when running AYAW.

I remember Mocky calling him out on that constantly.

Yeah I liked that. Limit the numbers though.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

I think thats unfair. This wasn't me 'not being bothered'.

This was me taking ages to plan a very difficult scenario to achieve.

I couldn't run a game the size DML does. I was all over the place with about 12 players, 70 odd is just strawberry floating bedlam, I'm not surprised he decided to run one where he didn't have to worry about half the votes coming in.

I'd like to run another one with the numbers bumped up a little bit to give more people a chance of playing, would be keen to know how people think it could be tweaked for the better as there were certainly a handful of issues with it.

The only real problem with Mafia was how long it took for anyone to die at the beginning.

That idea of how the seer can only identify a player after there's been a kill was a good one.
