MAKES NO SENSE

Is in contact with actual vigilante and pretending he is the Vigi as to "protect" the real vigi when he's actually using him.

Wolves asked to only kill 2 that night...

err...

Probably not.

Wolves have to kill 3. We tried it last game in this exact situation when pxyl had to prove he was in contact with a witchdoctor.

It doesn't mention if someones protected. It just shows the kills (minus 1)

RIGHT.

strawberry float. THIS. gooseberry fool.

This is where I am with the game, at this moment. I was Poncho's protector. It all started when I made an absolutely massive balls up in the thread, where I meant to pm DML that I was protecting Poncho because his posting style struck me as a potential human with a special power, however what I actually did was post a reply in the thread. You can imagine how much I gooseberry fool myself. I deleted the post immediately, but by some fluke, Poncho saw it and pm'd me. This is what Poncho was referring to when he said just revealing how I was trustworthy could lead to my death. There has always been a risk that a wolf also saw the strawberry float up, but was holding back for whatever reason.

So. What follows is the entire pm conversation Poncho and I have been having since that fateful day:

Yeah. gooseberry fool.

At least it was you.

Well, here goes.

I have a special role. I think you suspected so for a while. If you are a wolf, go ahead. I've made many screw ups this game. (not the vigi).

If you are a human, obv keep shtum. Hopefully no one else saw it.

I thought I was pm ing DML.

I'm a massive Dildo. I'm at the parents house, trying to play this game in the middle of a kitchen full of their friends.

I nearly shat myself when I saw that appear.

so, what now?

I'm honestly a bit stumped. I have to go to work soon so I can't really make any thoughts. Who have you protected in the game aside from me? And have you been in contact with anyone else? I know this sounds like a wolf trying to get as much info before I kill you but all I can say is you'll have to trust me. I'm working with Parksey who is about as good an ally to have in this game and we're trying to work in the background. I really regret going for mayor as I feel I'll be on some people's chopping block tomorrow.

That's the thing. I've been sitting here, in the dark, trying to work out how to draw the attention of the seers without getting wolves involved. I haven't spoken to anyone. As for protected, I'm sure you'll appreciate the discretion and be content that tonight wasn't the first night you had a guardian angel...

What I'm worried about is that one or more wolves saw that and now it's only a matter of time.

I don't think you a wolf simply because you got in touch instantly...

How does your power work? Can you protect me every night? I have a plan to get you in touch with the seer. I'll tell everyone that I am in contact with you (I won't name you obviously), and I will tell the seers to check me out and then try and get him in contact with you. This comes with obvious problems such as a wolf pretending but I'll explain in the thread how this won't happen.

I can then be protected every other night and I can then be captain on the day I'm not protected (unless you can protect me every night?). This will ensure that I am a player that can basically announce the seers results to the thread safe that I cannot be touched.

This could win the game if we do it right and get people on board.

Please let me know as soon as you can the limitations of your powers (whether it's every other day). I'm going to make a play for this game today but I don't want to let everyone know I'm in contact with a protector if you can only do it a certain number of times.

Ok. I can't name the power, that is my only insurance (however flimsy) that I know I'm being contacted by a seer. It would probably be best that I'm referred to as a guardian angel. Or, if you can think of a suitable piratey name for it, we may have wolves contacting me claiming to be a seer (risky, but they might). Rest assured that you can be protected on the nights that you aren't captain.

I've been thinking about this move for a while, but have been hampered by a lack of contact. The problem we have is that there is the fallout from the seer lynch and wolf kills to neogotiate. I think that all needs to be cleared up first. The Parksey name drop was alarming, but he has explained himself well in the thread. Presumably the one other person via PM he was talking about was you?

I'd also like to know before you announce it in the thread how you plan to get the seer in contact with me without letting a wolf through.

If the worst comes to the worst, I'll have to formally announce myself in the thread, and we will have to convince the group to let us alternate as Captain. At the moment, we haven't got a lot else to go on.

The vigilante would be a conduit for this as well, as traditionally they have only had two shots and one vigi per game so are now impotent, but can be guaranteed human.

My only other thought is that if you are Wolf and are leading me on to find the other special humans, I will go Spastic. I'm completely at your mercy here, you might realise.

I genuinely wouldn't have the heart to do this to you if I was a wolf. If I was a nasty wolf, this could be me sacrificing myself to get the last seer and win the game. It's a shame there's no way I can possibly prove being a human to you though.

I've come home from a night shift so I'm understandably tired. I'm not sure I could wake up in time to launch any sort of assault for captaincy. Would you be able to protect me tonight? That would be ideal as we can sort of get all this fallout over and done with as well as preparing how we'll go about doing this. If not, I'll state my play and I honestly think we're in a poor enough position that it'll work. Of course, if I don't become captain today then I'm utterly strawberry floated. So yeah, if you can protect me tonight, that'd be fantastic.

Do you not have a limit on how many times you can use your power in the entire game at all?

As for the wolves trying to contact you. He/she will contact me first, which will involve them seering me tonight confirming my human status. It would be a very balsy move trying to pretend to be a seer as there's only one. What if I was to receive two PMs? We'd know something was up and I would absolutely not let them know of your identity. The ideal situation is to get us in a group with the seer.

If that can't happen for whatever reason, then this is still a good move for the game. It will provide stability. Of course, this hangs on everyone simply trusting in my role, which could be hard. Which is why it is ideal to hold off this plan until tomorrow if you can in fact ensure my safety for tonight.

I'm hesitant to let you reveal yourself to the thread like that. Are you saying that you can protect yourself as well?

You know what would be even crazier? If you turned out to be a wolf and I was helping you find a seer.

And regarding Parksey, I am indeed the one he was PM'ing. We've been working together in the background for a while now and I'd go absolutely spastic if he turned out to be a wolf. I just can't see it.

I can go on protecting as long as I live, however I can't protect the same person two nights in a row. That's why, if I was to reveal myself, we would have to alternate the captaincy every day in order to survive. I was also thinking about an alternate name for my power which sounds legititmate. Master of the Guard strikes me as being plausible for the power I have and any genuine seer would know the proper role.

Also I can protect you tonight, but I will be vulnerable. But, I can't protect myself so it's a no brainer really. I'd really like to take this to MSN as well. PMing makes me nervous, especially as I am apparently awful at doing it. I'm still at the parents at the moment, will be driving home after lunch and should be online for a bit in the evening.

The other thing is we obviously still don't know how many people saw my post in the thread. If anyone other than you saw it, it will endanger our whole plan, because they would easily guess it's me that you are talking about.

Our arses are seriously hanging out on this one, but I think we have to go for it because I don't want to sit around hoping a seer gets in contact or the wolves just pick me off.

We'll have to see what happens today though...

Absolutely this. The worst thing that can happen as a human is being killed off having made no impact. That's why I never get too down on the vigilante kills because you must surely imagine the temptation to use the bullets ASAP.

Having read the thread, Argonaut has made me look like a seer, the utter nut case. I've got a horrible feeling I'm going to get killed tonight. If I could be protected then we could start getting ready for tomorrow.

We've got to believe no one saw your post.

If Satriales isn't a wolf then he's a clueless human. He's flip flopping all over the place. Still he's not Captain now.

Regarding the vote I don't think Argonaut is a Wolf but he's a massive pain the backside to have in the game. At the same time, I wouldn't be too surprised if Psychic was a wolf*. He's posting in the same way he did when he was the Alpha Blue Hat.

It would be nice if they both died TBH.

Are you able to protect me tonight? I have a little plan if you can.

I'll let them know I'm in contact with a protector and that he protected me last night so I'm vulnerable today. If the wolves try and kill me, we'll all know that the attempt failed. The rest of the players will then know without doubt that I am a human.

If I do not die by tomorrow I would like to try and bait out the wolves. Unfortunately, I think that's me dead. I would suggest going through with this plan in some form with another player. The only players I've been in contact with that isn't dead (R.I.P. Mori) is Mockmaster (cannot vouch for his status) and Parksey. He knows about the plan but not of you. If I die, give thought to approaching him. It's important that you can be sure though.

I might play on the suspicion that BIDO has just posted in the thread about me dropping out as mayor. I hope I can get enough attention on me for the wolves to think I'm better off alive as a smokescreen. I just hope I don't end up with enough votes in people's lists to be then put up for lynch.

Edit: I'm going to make a post about not being on the forum for a few days. That might actually be partly true, but I think that's my best hope of the wolves leaving me alone for just tonight, if they think I won't be around anyway.

Even later edit: Before I leave, there is of course the option to do this plan yourself. If you can actually protect yourself every other night, then it can still work. Obviously, I've been wary of doing this for obvious reasons like in case no one wants to put you in as mayor. Then you'd be killed whereas I could afford to do that being a lowly human. But if you feel you can convince everyone then it might be an avenue worth exploring if you feel like you have no one to trus

Smurphy.

If he's telling the truth the wolves will make an attempt on his life. If we only lose two players then we know he's legit and if I die, you have someone who can fulfil my role as public speaker as you work you magic in the back. Better yet if I do survive we have someone we know is a human.

Yay, our plan seems to be picking up pace. If you could protect me tonight that'd be super.

I'll let you know now, I did a you in the thread. Instead of typing "my guy", I typed your name!  I edited it instantaneously though and no one seems to have noticed. My heart skipped a beat. :(

If we're really scared that a wolf saw that slip up. You can always protect yourself tonight and we can risk myself by calling their bluff. I've already explained that I'm protected and the wolves will not want to waste a kill, or confirm that I'm telling the truth when they only have two kills tonight like this morning.

If you protect yourself and tonight they only kill twice, we know they must have attempted a kill on you. Then we know it's you that needs to come out (not desirable) and I'll go die in a corner or something.

I'm just thinking out loud though. I really did edit it unbelievably quickly so I'm just being very paranoid. I'm sure you know what I'm on about.

gooseberry fool just got real. And terrifying. Yeah, I know where you are coming from. I'm glad you were able to do it quickly though, when I made the post wanting to protect you I pressed delete and the webpage then took aaagggggeees to load. I was sure I was done for. It was at that point that I changed the protection to myself. So that night when you thought you were protected? you weren't. (sorry).

After their failure to kill Smurphy, do you think they will try to go for you? I get the feeling they will go for 3 people they believe to be the seer.

Luckily we have a few hours to decide.

I'm still worried how we will get the seer to link up though. If I was the wolves, I would definitely consider sacrificing one to get hold of me. (By pretending to be the seer, giving the name of a martyr wolf, they get lynched, fake seer is trusted, given to me then Bam)

I also need to work out if I should contact Smurphy or not. Is it in the rules for Wolves to only choose 2 people to kill, thus giving the impression of a failed kill?

My horribly paranoid thinking is thus:

Smurphy pretends to be the vigilante so he doesn't get lynched. There is a big song and dance about protecting him, which I duly do. The wolves only choose to kill two. I contact Smurphy, he says thank you very much and then I'm dead.

Would the wolves take that much of a risk?

It does also leave the question of who shot Psykes..

And if there is another person with the same power as me...

Sykes was killed by a vigilante. It's too improbably but do NOT contact Smurphy yourself yet. There's no rush at the moment.

And yeah, we've got time. I should be around today so I'll let update on what's going on in my head soon.

Edit: I'm having to quadruple check my posts before I make them public. I'm so paranoid about outing you.

Even normal posts I make in the thread are making me nervous, like I might inadvertently reveal myself. This game is not good for the psyche...

I think I'll risk protecting you this evening. The wolves still appear to be going after the in-actives, trying to flush out the seer and other specials. I am trying to make myself a little more visible, hopefully they will pass me by.

Ok. tldr: I was Poncho's protector, I also protected Smurphy on the night the Wolves only killed twice.

Firstly, apologies to Parksey and Mockmaster for their outage as regards contact with Ponch. At the moment I'm operating on a full disclosure policy, there are no more special roles which can help us find wolves, so quite frankly it doesn't really matter which humans die. I think everyone should announce who they have been talking to behind the scenes. Come on. There is nothing left to hide, is there?

You'll note I still haven't named my role. The reason for this is, if there is another person like me, then you know I have the same power as you. If you want to get in contact, tell me your role then we can link up. It's entirely up to you.

Tomorrow, I have to work. I'd like to run for mayor, the manifesto being I will put up two on the list Kanbei put up. Either that, or I'll work in conjunction with Smurphy. I can protect myself the nights I'm not mayor, If you will let me alternate. The plan is solid, it can work, but we can't be distracted AGAIN (pyxl-8, you are a massive plum).

Questions?

Well it all adds up. Like you say there are no major special roles left to hide now, so we may as well keep the ones we do know about protected while we slowly work down a list of people. If it comes to my turn then I won't protest, as this is the only thing we have left to play.

I'm sorry about today's result, guys. I was acting on my hunch, and never expected Poncho to be lynched. After all, my whole manifesto was to have smurphy lynched to AT LEAST clear up what the strawberry float happened yesterday, and I stuck to that all day (it was what I was voted in for, after all). I'm still suspicious of smurphy, for the same reason I've been all day, but following DaLax's revelation, I'm willing to roll with the punches I guess.

Yeah, I can confirm I have been in contact with Poncho pretty much throughout the entire game.

He PM'd me on about the second day, and though I don't normally respond, I knew from what he said about me in AYABH that he wouldn't try contacting me if he was a wolf. He was fairly transparent about everything - apart from who his guardian angel was (I've known for ages about that) - and I figured that if he must be a wolf, he must have been deliberately trying to snare me specifically. It would have had to be a tremendously clever plan, and he'd leave himself very open to me turning on him.

I trusted him about as far as I could trust someone in this game without having a Seer with us.

Unfortunately, Poncho suffered from the same curse as me - you post nothing but common sense and for some reason that makes you suspicious. The amount of times his name got bandied about made me facepalm.

Still, we have a definite tactic now - smurphy and DaLax as alternate mayors, with DaLax protecting the person not in the captain's role each night.

Also, I thought the wolves would try and get Poncho lynched - I didn't buy all this "it'll never happen as they'll get rid of Smurphy". There was still doubt about him due to this ridiculous "wolf vigilante" movment which somehow didn't even lose steam when DML said the role didn't exist!

Remarkable. By then though, we were strawberry floated due to the lynching candidates being a generally poor choice anyway.

Pretty much this. Dalax has cleared it all up for me. Not that it helps me, I've obviously drawn suspicion on myself but thats what I get for deciding to be vocal for once and obviously backing the wrong horse. Oh well. Not really bothered now, this game has been pretty much over for days. Work through the Kanbei list, lynch me if you have to, meh. I'll go back to watching from afar now.

I would like to nominate myself for Mayor, and I would like to place in the brig:

Melatonin
and
Gorrable

Dalax will protect himself tonight, and tomorrow will be mayor whereupon he will protect me, etc.
