This is just soul destroying...

Session 3 of the second day and we're already hanging on for a draw.

Smith out. Such a rabbit. Starc to carve a quick fifty here.

Well that Denly experiment worked.

Starc and Lyon took the piss at the end.

My optimistic post worked last time so let's give it another go:

We showed we can bat under pressure for a sustained period of time in the last test. Burns is still in and Overton might get a few runs tomorrow morning. Root is technically in at four now! A change in the order for Roy might help him do a bit better. It might rain!

Double it Rory. And shelve the hooks.

Credit where credit is due, that was a good session.

So that's that done then.

Good batting today from Burns and Root against a very strong bowling attack.

Roy can strawberry float off.

At this moment in time, I don't really care that England won the world cup. The ashes are above and beyond everything else in cricket and some of our batsmen are making a complete dogs dinner of playing test match cricket.

Need I say more? How about we pick up the ability to play a forward defensive rather than booming drives? Bairstow's head was all over the place (yes I know the ball swung), but he was barely watching the ball. Picked a full-ish length early on and just powered through with the shot. Archer's dismissal when he should've been purely trying to hold an end up was strawberry floating embarrassing.

Also:

If/when we lose this series, at least there is one memory to look back on fondly and that is that David Warner is Broads bunny.

Imagine if England lose this match and the series because they get a decent total to chase and go for the win.
