Absolutely incredible. One of the finest test innings of modern times.

I'm still incredibly pissed with how England played in the first innings, but I did manage to derive some joy from that win. (Namely from Lyon choking at the end.)

What Stokes did today has to be one of the most incredible things anyone has ever done in any sport ever. Just unreal.

This is the correct response. Ben Stokes and Leach’s heroics shouldn’t detract from how incredibly England shat the bed, and how often this has happened, and what the underlying causes are.

It will though, and for the sake of cricket The Game, it was worth it. For the sake of England’s long-term Test health...

It’ll be quite funny when Australia still keep the Ashes after this though.

Old Trafford - obviously weather plays a big part in the decision, but if we win the toss I'd be inclined to get us in to bat first, try and keep the siege mentality up and hopefully put up a decent first innings score. It would be interesting to see our bowlers get at them when there's a big target to play with.

I'm listening to the final hour on TMS for the second time, after watching the extended highlights and the Verdict on Sky last night. I'm hoping my wife doesn't figure out I'm listening/watching the same thing over and over again.

Caught the last 30 minutes on TMS at a festival yesterday, when we won there was a big roar and then loads of people looking confused as to why and where the noise had come from.

Absolutely incredible stuff. Stokes deserves a knighthood and Leach is an absolute hero. I’ve rewatched the highlights about 10 times already.

Has anyone else seen loads of cricket sets out in parks this summer? Really good to see, especially in an area like Liverpool which is so strongly influenced by football.

Still can't believe yesterday! I was in the park keeping an eye on score, then stated listening to TMS as Stokes started hitting those sixes! The commentators were so excited in the final overs sometimes I had no idea what was happening

Watched the highlights and my lord he was good. But fear this will paper over the obvious errors in a lot of the team (batting wise). Interesting to see what changes they do make for the next test.

Ben Stokes
The Ashes

(Would be classic England if we roll over and get thrashed in the next test)

Given that's it's all calmed down a touch since yesterday, what team do we expect England to field at Old Trafford? It looks like Jimmy will make himself available but who gets dropped? Also, someone has to get dropped out of that batting line-up so who is the one?

For me, Jimmy comes in for Woakes (who doesn't seem to be bowling much) and Buttler gets a rest for Foakes. Burns and Denly has done just enough to keep their places for now but Roy might have to go. Big game to drop a new opener in though so maybe Denly opens with Roy at 3. Root back to 4.

I have no idea about cricket. Can anybody put this victory in football terms? Turning around a huge first leg defeat like Liverpool/Spurs in the CL last year?

Yeah it’s basically like that but if Liverpool/Spurs had been 6-0 down and all 6 goals were away goals.
