So the Aussies are preparing with a three-day tour match against Worcestershire today.

How exactly are England preparing for the next test?

Well they were mugged off in the last test, but then I guess it is what it is.

Hopefully they can crack on now.

Eoin Morgan (54* off 27) and AB De Villiers (46* off 31) batting together on Sky in the T20 at the moment for Middlesex. An absolute clinic.

So who do we think is missing out from the announced 12 man squad?

Rumblings that the line up will be:

Burns
Roy
Root
Buttler
Stokes
Bairstow
Woakes
Curran
Broad
Archer
Leach

Getting closer to my ideal XI of:

Sibley
Burns
Roy
Root
Buttler
Stokes
Foakes
Woakes
Curran
Archer
Leach

Buttler at 4 is

I could see Stokes there though, if he hasn’t been bowling much. With five frontline bowlers he shouldn’t be.

I'd rather have Stokes batting higher than both Buttler and Bairstow.

Three big international games today. Three different hosting countries. All rained off. What a day for the sport.

That's a strong day for England. I'd have taken that scorecard at 10:15 this morning.

10.25am Nasser Hussain and Ian Ward doing the pitch report, saying there's less grass than the Ireland Test. Suggests it's a bat-first deck given the weather.

10.30am Australia win the toss and bowl. Tim Paine says the shortened game and the pitch being covered yesterday were factored into his decision.

Joe Root says he would probably have bowled as well. So interesting from both captains. "We need a big first innings total now," Root says. He confirms that Sam Curran misses out.

Curious.

I did enjoy Nasser confirming it was a bat-first wicket shortly before both captains announcing they'd like to bowl first. Big first knock needed. Important first hour.

Didn’t Nasser famously bowl that one time in Australia and get pilloried for it?

Better still was Michael Holding:

"Australia have won the toss and will bowl first... surprising all of us", spoken with a massive shit-eating grin plastered across his face.

So the GRcade filter catches ‘sc,one’ but not ‘shit-eating’. :fp:

Nice when the thread title could be either the match score or series score. :fp:

 Just wait for the excitement when we get to the final test, Australia are going for the whitewash, and you can say the same thing :dread:
