I believe, that, in my lifetime they'll just end the Ashes. England will find new ways to be absolute piss and Australia will be like "You know what? We've got better things to do. We win this gooseberry fool. Go play someone else."

Australia haven't won an Ashes series in England since 2001, over 20 years ago now, so they've got problems of their own to solve.

We're just unfortunately going through a major glut when it comes to batsmen with test-batting technique. So away from home we become utterly impotent despite our bowlers doing okay at times.

In low-scoring English conditions our terrible weaknesses can get covered up mostly.

Didn't they win here in 2019?

Ignore me, it was a draw, I had it in my head we lost 3-1.

Yeah, it's crazy to think the last team between the two to win an away Ashes series was England in 2010/11. I suspect we could be in for some home defeats in the coming years though, especially with Anderson close to retirement. They're starting to stretch away from us again while we're falling away as a team.

I do miss Strauss, Cook, Bell, KP, Collingwood, Prior and the rest from a decade ago. All with really solid test-level batting technique. Heady days indeed.

I think the problem also partially stems from the pitches prepared at county level. They aren't conducive to spin or proper fast bowling.

There's no need for our bowlers to put the extra stress on their bodies when they can bowl at 80mph and have the ball turn around corners.

Pitches more akin to those found elsewhere in the world would force batsmen to have better, tighter and less exploitable techniques.

68

I'd laugh at them if that was a 20/20 score. As a ODI that'd be appalling.

strawberry floating hell. I'm no expert but even I know it takes a special type of bad to be behind by 82 runs and still lose by an innings

Losing by an innings when the other team only posted 267. Jesus strawberry floating christ, that's a new low.
