Because having a first class average of 50 in Ranji means strawberry float all.

The standard of the county championship is pretty darn good, all told. Most of that’s the many African and West Indian kolpaks, granted...

He’s been darn good this season.

Good to see it against Notts. as well. Turns out that buying a bunch of second division players doesn’t always work so well in the first division. Who’d have thought?

You can see why he's confused if you look at the Hants scorecard from the Essex game. We play retire at 30 down south.

Never mind Mini, you can laugh at the resident Sussex fans. Also, I support Durham, so...

After Vince does a Vince, at least Root is also doing a Root.

It's not likely but it could happen. Them batting first is the fun option; them chasing (they will inevitably bowl Afghanistan out for 230 max.) is the safe one.

This aged well.

Keeping Rashid on to get those wickets was excellent captaincy. He’s looked mediocre thus far this tournament: this should bolster his spirits.

Should we be concerned that England couldn’t bowl them out in 50 overs? I know they didn’t score well, but still...

No, because Afghanistan recognised they would never be able to chase that total and instead decided to just try and bat the 50 overs.

Plus, I do reckon Morgan decided to give the struggling Rashid some more overs to get wickets and confidence in. In a real match I reckon Moe and maybe Stokes would have got more.

South Africa seem to have forgotten they're playing a 50 over game.
