Cook and Bell to stay in for a good while now is the key.

Not an entirely great morning to wake up to :x Luckily the pitch is decent enough to bowl on so hoping that our bowlers know fast and full is the way to go!!

If this match was a game of chess, Siddle has just done the equivalent of flip the board over, sweep aside the pieces and nut England in the face.

What a delightful first day's play that was.

What did I say?

Never, ever think we have an edge against Aussie. we never do.

If Siddle can get that then we are screwed again. That's set the scene for another drubbing. I saw the team list and i feared it. Oh dear.

All year our batting has looked fragile at the wrong times. God if it can't handle Siddle it has no chance.

I really dont think it's going to be a drubbing. That extra 50 they put on was important. Just need to settle a bit. Australia on their own turf was always going to be tricky but lets not throw in the towel just yet.

Yes, far too early for Engalnd supporters to be getting despondent. You hold the Ashes, after all, so a drawn series will do you just fine. But from an Australian perspective, it's a very good start.
