What actually happened ball by ball in that Broad over? I was climbing so I just saw it at the top of the BBC page.

England's whole attitude to bowling out tailenders just seems rooted in some bizarre ideas. It's been the same for years.

Read bottom to top:

Bonkers over, 35 runs off it, 29 to the batter - and Bumrah is now atop a list that was previously headed by Brian Lara and George Bailey (and Keshav Maharaj). India's captain is Bazballing!

83.6
Broad to Bumrah, 1 run

tip and run, Broad sweeps up and throws himself into the stumps with Siraj diving for his ground. Just makes it home!

Who made the comment earlier about India's tail being vulnerable...?

83.5
Broad to Bumrah, SIX runs

splatted for six more! World record for Bumrah! More short stuff and he whirls it up and away over deep backward square leg. Knee in the air, some Calypso flourish to that one

83.4
Broad to Bumrah, FOUR runs

swung off his feet through midwicket! Bumrah ends in a crumpled heap, but he's middled it nevertheless! Four in front of deep square leg

That is 28 runs off the over, equalling the record for the most in Tests... and there's still two balls to come

83.3
Broad to Bumrah, FOUR runs

thick-edged to fine leg, four more to Bumrah... and that boundary takes India galloping past 400!

83.2
Broad to Bumrah, FOUR runs

full toss, bludgeoned through mid-on! Must have been close to another no-ball, on height - but Aleem Dar only signals four. Smoked down the ground by India's captain

83.2
Broad to Bumrah, (no ball) SIX runs

hoicked into the boundary boards, another fat top edge... and it's a no-ball as well! Bumrah finagling vital runs here. This one went fine of third, but Leach was never getting to it

83.2
Broad to Bumrah, 5 wides

dug in short, clears Billings! Way above the batter as he began to swing for it again. Wides signalled

83.1
Broad to Bumrah, FOUR runs

hooked, into the gap! Massive top edge, and I think Crawley might have just got to it... Bounced through and over the rope

That's gotta be one of the all time most expensive overs ever in Test cricket

Saw he has the most expensive over in T20 too, after he was smashed for 6 6s in the 2007 World Cup :slol:

Stokes seems so desperate to put across the ‘play aggressive’ message to his team that he’s willingly sacrificing his own batting to do so. Some utterly brain dead batting on display from him this morning. Bairstow on the other hand has been fantastic.

Agreed. Root was at it yesterday as well, to a degree, trying to have a swipe at everything, which is how he eventually got out.

I can't be that upset considering that they're going about this in a similar way to the white ball side, which also had its fair share of cock-ups, but it does raise the question: is Stokes actually any good at Bazball?

Stokes natural style is 'Bazball' I thought (to the extent I know anything about Cricket. The last few matches though it seems more akin to Suicideball, he's batting like a no. 10 who has no interest in being around beyond a handful of overs.

England have chased well recently, but 378 is going to be a step too far.

I'd have to agree, India's bowling attack is far better than NZ and England take too many risks. If we make 250, I'll be surprised.

I'll give some credit to Crawley here, he's actually put the off drive away.

First booming drive there from Crawley after 45 deliveries (which he narrowly avoided edging behind).
