That was a good day, following on from 2 good sessions on the previous day. I think we now just need to hope we don't get strawberry floated over by the weather.

It's curious that selecting a team for conditions can reap such success.

What a novel concept.

Can't wait to see what team they go with for the next test. At this point I can't imagine any changes but they'll probably drop MOTM Foakes like they did with Curran after the first India test.

What I really want to happen is for Foakes to become a permanent fixture of the team given he is supposed to be the best WK in the country.

It sounds like he's shown really solid glove work today, the no. of byes and leg byes seem to also back that up. He's got some runs as well, I can't see any reason to consider dropping him over the next two series minimum.

I would suggest swapping over some seamers for the next game, but Sam Curran is doing a really good job of making himself undroppable.

Still though. Stone should get a match.

I don't see any reason to do that. Anderson bowled 10 overs in the day - he has bowled single spells of 10 overs in recent years - it's not hard on him. And I wouldn't drop/rest him.

Same team next game IMO.

I’m obviously not suggesting dropping Jimmy. Not until the series is won at least.

Which, if England loses the toss next game, I still think won’t be an option.

I'd just like to point out that Stokes was doing just fine until Drummy posted.

I am taking full credit for the inevitable century for Jennings after tea (98* at the break)

I read this as a negative but I'm guessing that wasn't the intention...

Even with 146*, Keaton's average still hasn't breached 30. You'd bet it will do at some point during this series though.

Before this test it was 22.09, it's now 29.47.
