Good to see Cook/Stoneman/Malan/Root all firing.

What about your boy, when is he going to fire?

Aussie line-up has been leaked btw. Quite a number of unhappy Aussies on Reddit. Renshaw out, Bancroft in. Tim Paine installed as WK. Shaun Marsh at 6.

He was caught off a bump ball and given out. Can’t blame him for that. He’s looked alright so far in the tour games - just lacking that one big score.

Yeah it’s nice to see some negative Australian media about their own selections rather than ours for once. I’m not going to laugh in case it comes back to bite us in the arse but their middle order looks a bit exploitable. It’s all irrelevant if we can’t bat through Starc/Hazlewood/Lyon though.

Fair enough. Stoneman has looked massively promising, 3 fifties and a ton in the 4 warm-ups. If he can carry that sort of form through the series...

So we've named the team and Ball is in there. Sad times.

I hope someone lamps Lyon.

It's just banter.[/Keys]

Anyone with any predictions for the series?

I think a lot of how this series will go will be determined in the first couple of days of the first test. If we struggle to bat (and I think we'll be batting first) then it's going to be a very long winter and we'll lose 3-1. Get to the end of tomorrow with only 5/6 down and we might sneak a 2-1 series win.

How is everyone planning to watch this? I've got a couple of hours in the car tomorrow from 5am so will be listening to TMS on Radio 4 complete with a break for the shippers  Friday, my plan is to completely avoid all news and then listen to TMS during the day at work instead. Not sure how viable this is.

I have BT Sport on my tablet and a three month old, so I was planning all through the year on having to be up at all hours anyway for feeds and stuff. He's sleeping through though, so whilst I'm a little bit miffed I don't have an excuse to stay up and watch the cricket I am IN NO WAY complaining that I get a good night's sleep most nights!

I imagine I'll chuck on TMS most mornings for the commute.

I'm off this week so I'll definitely be staying up for as long as I can stay awake tonight.

-Woakes to be our leading wicket-taker
-Root to be our leading run scorer
-Stoneman to thrive
-Broad to be disappointing
-Ball to be shite

Prediction for day 1:

If England win the toss, close on 245-6
If Aus win the toss, close on 300-3.

If England bat, the mentality is likely to be survive the new ball/first session whereas Warner will want to lay down a marker (I'm thinking of his century before lunch last year as his aim :slol:)

If England bat first how many will Vince make in his first innings?

I reckon Vince will average less than 25.

Honestly, I'd love for Vince to make a massive score. Generally, once he gets going, he goes quite big. He just needs to keep his drive away for the first hour or so.

14 first innings, 73 the second. Cleaned up by the new ball (full delivery) in the first innings and caught nicking off behind the wicket in the second.

England win the toss and bat! We're winning the ashes so far!

Not a terrible opening session. Stoneman looks good. Vince has done well because he wouldn't have wanted to come out so early. Shame about the rain.

Aye, I've had it on all night too. We're sounding pretty stable, makes a bit of a change in Brisbane.
