I was being spurious too. I liked Hameed when he first got his call up, looked a decent, compact opening batsman. Had a dreadful year last year though so hopefully he's got his mojo back and he can bat himself back into contention.

Happy to say that this is... not a good squad! Likely starting XI will be Warner, Finch, Smith, Marsh and Maxwell, Stoinis, Cummins, Starc, NCN, Zampa.

That line up lacks middle-order firepower and omits their best player over the last 12 months (Khawaja).

They have clearly picked the squad without evaluating the roles required for a winning team.

Unfortunately though, I think they'll be in the semis just because they're Australia and that's what they do.

In a related note, pre-ordered the Switch cricket game this morning. 365 games have it for just over £40 and Quidco are doing a £2.50 bonus today so I'm happy to get it for sub £40.

Why in the unholy testicles would you not pick Khawaja when you could pick Khawaja? Especially when Shaun F*cking Marsh is still there.

I agree with Rex on them reaching the semis but they really shouldn't.

Yeah, he is in the squad, but chances are they'll play Warner as opener. Khawaja for some reason can't play at 3 (his returns in that position are below average). So if they want Warner to open, chances are they'll omit Khawaja from the XI completely.

I would go Finch, Khawaja, Warner, Marsh, Maxwell, Stoinis.

Aaaaaaaah. I'd probably play Smith over Marsh, but then I am unreasonably prejudiced against him for getting so many chances despite being mediocre.
