So Cricket 19 hot takes.

First things first, the Switch version ain't the prettiest. Some of the fielding animation is down right dreadful with some very odd frame skips/juddering. It almost looks like players are skating at some points. The character models are ok, I'd say somewhere between PS4 and PS3. Almost, too many instances of 'hollow man' as the camera holds position as the fielder walks in and it goes through them. Otherwise, presentation is decent.

Loading times are too long, the one before a game is 30-40 seconds and then there are other loads disguised as camera sweeps across the ground.

Plenty of game modes, at the moment I've only played the training and started a career mode.

Career mode seems really good. You pick a county side and then a village team/whatever level team. I'm a med/fast all rounder who also seems to open.

Bowling is probably my favourite, controls are fairly easy to get your head around. Wickets are hard to come by but I'm pretty economical (best figures of 1 for 12 in a T20 over 4 overs).

Batting has too many controls but maybe that'll come with practice. Maybe it's the level I'm currently playing at but picking the bowling isn't too tricky but playing a daft shot will result in you getting out. Rest of my team are shite though, chasing down 110 and I made 36 and we still didn't win.

Fielding in career mode is boring (so very accurate) and it's really hard to discern where the ball goes off the bat if you're down at 3rd man, particularly in handheld mode. You can skip though to your next bowl or bat.

Reading around the web suggests the devs generally develop their earlier cricket games through patches. The only official teams in the game are England and Australia but it does have a community section on the menu and you can download other teams. A world cup DLC seems obvious given no-one else makes cricket games but we'll see.

Not sure if the PS4 and XBO versions would be less glitchy on the animations as they'd developed for those systems before. As of now I'd give it a 6/10 for most people or a 7/10 for cricket fans.

Not a sports game fan myself (unless Mario’s in it), but that looks really useful. Cheers!

Did not expect SA to be this bad.

This Saffers game is bubbling along quite nicely. Bangladesh need to break this partnership soon otherwise they're going to lose it. Very finely poised.

Come on Bangbros!

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Looks like we're not going to get a traditional Saffers choke in the later stages :(

England have been utter tosh in the field today (aside from Woakes taking a couple of catches). I can see us losing this as we don't seem switched on at all today.

In other Cricket 19 news, I need to stop running out my batting partners. I'm surprised my opening partner hasn't lamped me yet, I'm worse than Boycs at judging a single.

I think we're screwed. I thought we'd walk this match.

We still might. We beat Pakistan 4-0 recently and they scored 340 or more in 3 of those.

The ball from Bumrah for Amla's wicket is about the best example of swing I've ever seen. Nothing he could do about it.

No pressure South Africa but you could be effectively eliminated today if you don't buck your ideas up.

Not sure bucking up ideas is working. No chance of them progressing.

Get these two before say, 100 is on the board and it's game on.

The Brohit/Nohit line is around 29/30 so they need something soon.
