As if Jimmy comes in for Broad after the Ashes he enjoyed.

I have a chronic fear of ‘rfmitis’, that peculiarly English condition where you play a lot of rfm bowlers whose differences are not very different because they got you lots of wickets at home and wonder why you keep getting paggered away.

I agree, but this is the ECB we're talking about.

England have batted an entire day for the loss of only 4 wickets. I cannot remember the last time this happened.

+Sibley and Burns seeing off the new ball and then some
+Another fifty for Burnsy
+Jocular Joe, he's on a pretty good run now. I'd say he's safe for the South Africa tour. If he can get another decent score this tour I'd say he's nailed down his spot for the foreseeable future
+Stokesy :datass: There was an over near the end of the day where he hit Trent Boult for 4 consecutive 4s, it was glorious
+Pope looked assured, even against the new ball
+Pitch was decent for for batting, overall a fair pitch for batting and bowling
+Our batsmen leaving with great discipline outside off stump

-Rooty, sort it out
-New Zealand's super wide bowling lines. I get that they were trying to induce our batsmen into a frustrated swipe but it didn't make for great viewing

I wish. I watched the first 90 minutes and the last couple of hours.

That still sounds like a lot of missing sleep!

Yeah, not great. Pope's dismissal in particular was awful.

Could've been a lot worse considering the collapse after Stokes was out but I'll take it. Today's overs won't have taken much out of our bowlers so they should come back tomorrow/tonight pretty darn fresh.

Managed to catch the first session (10pm-12) and the last hour. Tuned in just in time to see Williamson get out.

The lack of penetration in the bowling today is cause for serious concern.

Is it time to take the captaincy away from Joe Root so he can concentrate on his batting?

I would say yes, but I don’t know who you give it to instead. Broad?
