If he just focuses on getting fifties he'll be fine.

So in his mind, he should be thinking about resuming on 16 not out. Get to fifty, start again.

This is disconcertingly solid from England. I expect they'll snap out of it soon and go back to normality.

Decent session. Lawrence has looked very assured in these conditions which is really promising, another good option.

Can't imagine Root will appreciate going to lunch on 99 though. :slol:

Root's last 4 tons have come away from home.

Too much to ask for a Daddy Double?

Bat until the mid-point of Day 3 Session 3, leaving two days to bowl SL out and 4.5 more sessions from now until then to get a double, even a triple.

Yes that's right, the ECB need to employ me as a strategy consultant.

Blocking out an entire session. Solid work.

Decent first session, weird how wickets started tumbling as soon as the ball was switched out. Shame Rooty ran out of partners. Average up to 49.09 from 47.99.

That said, it's not all great news - if you take out Root, the rest of the team scored 197-9.

This is substantially less good to wake up to.

Thirimanne scoring runs. Of all people. Thirimanne.

Getting run out whilst chasing down 70 odd runs with a whole day to go should result in you be fined a proportion of your match fee.

Unsure what England are gonna do about the openers but Dan Lawrence needs to bat at 3 in India, he's so comfortable and composed vs. spin, which isn't something you can say about Sibley, Burns and Crawley.

3 Lawrence
4 Root
5 Stokes
6 Pope
7 Buttler

I don't see YJB getting dropped any time soon so I think when Stokes returns then it's one from Pope and Lawrence.

Barstow has only come into the team as cover. Crawley is the man in possession of the #3 spot, and he'll be back there once Burns comes back from paternity leave.

Personally I'd drop Sibley just for the India tour as he looks at sea vs. spin. Bump Crawley up to open, insert Lawrence at 3.

That would be the sensible thing to do, yes.
