Despite the talk of him being dropped, I'm sure Broad will still play. England always go with the safe option when presented with a dilemma.

England are generally conservative when it comes to test selection. But I don't see Broad as being the ? in Drummy's squad as we look too light on batting. That would mean Broad is in for either Leach or Curran, either would be a mistake. The issue with not playing Broad though means England may only have 2 seamers if Stokes struggles with his injury.

If Broad plays then Curran in all probability misses out. They could ask Jimmy and Broad to just keep it tight, and force SL to attack the spinners.

From The Australian (quotes from Justin Langer):

But what, everyone wants to know, is what’s ELITE HONESTY?

“It’s the Australian way as I know it, you look at a bloke or a lady in the face and you tell them the truth and you need to really honest with yourself because if you’re not you’re kidding yourself,” Langer explained. “The man in the mirror is almost a cliche, but if you want to be successful in life you have got to be able to look yourself in the mirror. You can lie to everyone else, but you can’t lie to yourself.

“So that’s elite honesty to yourself. And also the Aussie ways I know it is to look a bloke in the eye, look your sister or you mum in the eyes, and tell them the truth and be happy to get some truth back, so that’s elite honesty.”

100% guaranteed this will be an excuse for sledging. "We weren't being abusive, we were just being honest."

It did.

They got the line up bang on IMO, but again, again, AGAIN poor batting has put them in a hole. Moeen, Root and Stokes should be especially disappointed.

Also, seeing how much the ball is ragging already, I think the decision to play Foakes will justify itself. Jos is a good keeper but in these conditions ([/Nasser]) I'd rather have Foakes.

Never normally a good sign when Keaton top-scores in an innings.

Adil Rashid is eyeing a test hundred. You heard it here first.

Edit: or not.

I stand corrected, they did decide to drop Broad after all. Won't make any difference though if the top order don't make runs.

Mate. You know not to post in here during session-hours in an England inning. Get your gooseberry fool together.

I guess the big question now is, what happens to Bairstow?

He seems a bit out of form in all formats to be honest. But yes, good to see that England have finally found someone who can bat in the tricky no. 7 spot. :P

Of course, Sri Lanka now have their two actual batsmen at the crease and suddenly things don’t seem quite so easy.

I wonder if Keaton Jennings' bat for this inning has a middle.
