No way, SMarsh has been very good since his 2018 recall. 4x100 and 3x50 in 18 innings at an average of 53. The most curious thing is that they omitted Ashton Turner, who delivered AUS's best ODI finish in years vs. India.

I've got the lower three sub-fora hidden normally, so I've only just got the relevance of this.

Hi again Mini E! Image If you're reading can we at least get a thread title change?

Has Woakes talked himself out of a world cup place with his comments yesterday on Archer? The ECB seem pretty struck on Archer so surely it would be awkward after what he said.

No. They like Woakes. And people have said stranger and more forthright things: Wood, for example.

BBC have really taken what he actually said out of context to make a flashy headline.

Asked if it was fair that Archer could replace someone who has been part of the squad for three years, Woakes said: "Fair probably is not the right word.

"It probably wouldn't be fair, morally, but at the same time it's the nature of international sport."

"Apart from a personal level, I wouldn't want to see any of my mates and team-mates miss out.

"But it's the nature of international cricket that there is always someone knocking on the door.

Also, Woakes is our best bowler so he isn't going anywhere unless injury intervenes again.

Looks decent as long as Denly is only carrying drinks and spare gloves.

This is why I haven't raised this as an issue for the countless months it's been taking place. Hello.

So England have basically used their squad announcement to not announce whether Archer will be in the squad or not

And haven’t given a straight answer.

Because you knew we’d take the Mickey? Nah, not us! :shifty:

Or they replace him with Archer before the squad proper is announced.

High quality trolling from England.

England preliminary World Cup squad:

Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

England 17-man squad to play in Pakistan ODIs:

Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Chris Jordan, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

England 14-man squad to play in Ireland ODI and Pakistan IT20:

Eoin Morgan (captain), Jofra Archer, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Joe Denly, Chris Jordan, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, James Vince, David Willey, Mark Wood

All they are doing is covering their backs for when they inevitably draft Jofra in, so that people can't turn around and complain that he's never played a single ODI for England.

I really felt that Dawson would be the back up spinner but they've gone with Denly.

Harsh on Dawson IMO. He's had a good start to the season at Hants.

The announcement is... there is no announcement.

Edit: I think it was Ben Swain who got shafted by this on TTOI but now I'm doubting myself :shifty:

Edit edit: It wasn't Ben Swain was it? This image is more relevant:

Gaz Baz really gave the bowlers some tap there towards the end in the RLODC.

GET HIM IN THE SQUAD

Well, they do have until mid-late May to 'finalise' the squad...

Cook and Ballance back in, Archer out!

Also everybody will be overjoyed* to see that Cam Bancroft notched up 150.

They'll want to keep Ballance fresh for the Ashes...
