That didn’t happen and the same applies now in my opinion. South Africa doing very well here.

I have just looked at the schedule. Leeds is going to be a strawberry floating nightmare on the 21st and 29th June.

Have to say I thought England were impressive on all fronts yesterday, albeit against perhaps a slightly undercooked RSA team.

Not so long ago the batsmen would have ignored the state of the pitch and continued to try and smash the ball to all parts and suffered the sort of groan inducing collapse we’ve all seen dozens of times before. But they actually appeared to play with some maturity, they realised the ball wasn’t coming onto the bat that well, that the slower balls were sticking in the pitch a little, and worked around it to what ended up being a pretty decent score all in all. You could say it’s disappointing that none of the four that passed fifty went onto score three-figures but ultimately it’s a team game and a win’s a win. Bowling line-up just looks so much more potent with Archer there to help Woakes up front and Plunkett in the middle overs. The XI that was played yesterday is probably my first choice eleven.

Looking forward to today's game.

I would possibly consider Curran for Plunkett - otherwise my first-choice XI too. Let’s not overlook the fact that death bowling wasn’t required here, although Jofra can probably do that too.

WI look weak, especially in their bowling, but they won the toss. Should be a good match!

Plunkett is the middle overs king so there's no way I'd leave him out. I kind of feel Archer was the missing piece of the jigsaw, as much as I like Wood, he hasn't really ever taken enough wickets.

Wood has an imaginary horse, shush.

Some Pakistani fans on Reddit are proper mental.

Throughout the recent series with England they complained that Babar doesn't accelerate enough toward the back end of his innings. Even when you point out that unlike England, Pakistan generally don't BatDeep(TM), and so Babar doesn't have the luxury of having a middle-order or a bowling line up that can find the boundary with relative ease and so he basically has to go along at a SR between 90-110. They go on about how he has to learn to finish innings but don't accept that in order to do that he needs the rest of the batsmen to show some resistance. Guy averages 50+ in ODIs and his middle order generally contribute close to bugger all. The England equivalent to this would be expecting Joe Root to start playing like Jos Buttler once he passes 50. I just don't get how irrational they are. It's clear to me that Babar's role is the Joe Root role. Bat through the majority of the innings, lay the foundation, rotate the strike etc so that players coming in at the end can play with freedom. Except his teammates don't last long enough and he's often left with the tail for company.

Competitive matches so far in this tournament.

Good job they only included ten teams, otherwise we’d have a lot of mismatches.

This Aussie game needs a couple of early wickets to keep it interesting.
