Denly, whilst not posting big scores, has actually been pretty good in the last 10 Tests or so. Always seems to get in, just keeps getting out. Also bats very patiently.

Fair point. Trott was world class in his position so it's probably unfair to compare.

Denly's last 6 Tests:

4 (24)
53 (123)
14 (26)
94 (206)
74 (181)
35 (142)
4 (8)
50 (111)
31 (79)
38 (130)
31 (79)

If nothing else, he is pretty decent at soaking up deliveries and weakening the effects of the new ball. Which makes it more annoying when he gets out.

56.5
Anderson to Maharaj, no run, nip off the seam, into the splice, and Maharaj's bat has been snapped in two! Grrr! Pace like fire from the ageless Anderson! Out comes a replacement ... the original is looking rather forlorn, bent like a twig right at the base of the handle!

:datass:

Burns misses the SL tour, hello Keaton Jennings.

Keaton is good against spin, that’s not a bad thing. Shame for Burns though.

Love a finish like this. I think Philander will see it out - it would be extremely poetic.

Quality mockers. Feel a bit sorry for Sibley as Stokes is MOTM after that bowling performance.

Oh bloody hell. Do 5 Live Sports Extra not have the rights to the SA test? Looking for the commentary on Sound and it's not there :/

edit: offs. TalkSport 2 have it but they don't have a catch up service. Useless twats.

No, just the cricket social which isn't really commentary. And you have to listen to Ryan Sidebottom for a whole day.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of TalkSport commentators. I've been sticking to cricinfo/bbc online commentary lately.

I've only been watching highlights of this series so far, but it's good to see England competing at least. Neither team are what you would call 'solid' in the batting department, so I have no idea which way this series will go. If Stokes' form continues through the last 2 matches then I'd maybe peg England as slight favourites.

The quirky alternative radio option is Guerilla Cricket. They’re not live at the ground (they watch it on telly), instead emphasising irreverence, user interaction via Twitter, and playing parody tunes when someone new comes in to bowl or bat.

I'm unsure whether this will meet your needs. It's basically the TMS lot + guests talking about cricket in general and then occasionally chirping up when a boundary is hit or a wicket falls.

-Anderson is missing the rest of the tour.
-Archer should be OK so it seems like it'll be a straight swap.
-Mark Wood has declared himself fit but hasn't played a red ball match since the start of the World Cup.
-Will Bess keep his spot, will Leach come in, or will they go with an all seam attack?
