WI: Cornwall for Joseph. Fair enough, except Gabriel looks like he’s made of wood.

England: Burns Sibley Root Stokes Pope Buttler Woakes Bess Archer Broad Anderson

To a certain extent I get that Stokes can’t bowl and that means a shuffle, but... strewth!

Broken now.

Yep, precisely why we shouldn't be moving people up.

Still, Gabriel seems to be struggling so that might assist us... It should bring big man Cornwall on.

That means more Cornwall bowling.

He once had a summer with Thames Ditton CC in Surrey. They say he said little, and was always under the watchful eyes of his own coach, who made the journey with him. On the one weekend the coach wasn't around, Rahkeem nailed the yard of ale faster than anyone they had ever seen.

Properly narked off with how today has gone. Only Sibley was actually got out, the rest did themselves in.

What is Root doing running suicidal singles? The more I see of him as the captain the less I think of his decision making.

Seems like Burns has deficient technique vs. off-spin. Chase has had him on toast. Helluva catch from the big man at first slip!

Stokes did not look comfortable at all. A fully fit Stokes doesn't miss that.

I think it's a deficient technique vs Chase... it's very strange. I heard a stat about his numbers vs Chase compared to his numbers vs Nathan Lyon who is obviously a better regarded spinner, and his stats against Lyon were pretty good. It's weird.

Good news, seems like most of the rain is going to miss Old Trafford. Due to lose some of the first session but that's it.

Sure? We could be coming out for a short session before lunch four down if the drizzle had stuck around

I am enjoying Broad time though. Nice on the one time in seven this comes off  Just makes you appreciate it more.

Stuart Broad, Stuart Broad, hitting down the ground.
Stuart Broad, Stuart Broad, whacking them around.

I honestly think that, as OP, I should have the power to lock the thread during certain partnerships at my own discretion, and ban repeat offenders (Balla) from the thread for 24 hour time periods.

Been busy most of today but very unhappy with how Pope resumed. He didn't give himself a chance at getting back in.

Richard Hadley's advice has worked wonders for Broad. He's been excellent since the start of the Ashes last year.

With the rain forecast you wonder if they will send Buttler and Stokes out for quick runs...

FFS Rory. Joe was delaying the declaration to give you time and you've given it away.
