This idea that Moeen is going to miraculously rediscover his 2017/18 forms is misguided and unlikely.

Personally I'd opt for Woakes; the NZ tour showed he's improved in overseas conditions and Curran barely did anything with the ball the last time they were over there.

You're right, they probably should but England selectors seem to lean towards being conservative and I think they'll see the batting line up with those two in as being too short and that's why I believe they'll opt for Moeen. What they'll then hope for is Root to pick up some wickets to compensate.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali has tested positive for Covid-19 upon the squad's arrival in Sri Lanka.

I'm sure sitting on an aircraft for umpteen hours with a covid positive person won't result in any more cases in the next 4 days. No siree.

Tour cancelled by the weekend.

It's the tour that just isn't meant to take place.

I bet Pakistan wish they had a few cases of the Covid going around the squad right about now. Williamson is absolutely on fire at the moment.

Williamson's last four test innings:
251
129
21
238

strawberry floats sake Dimuth, hell of an innings, zero mistakes or chances given, so why throw your innings away with a swipe like that.

England's tour of Sri Lanka will continue - for now, at least - after the latest round of Covid-19 tests showed no new positive results.

The squad will hold their first training session of the tour in Hambantota on Wednesday afternoon, where Moeen Ali has now returned to stay in separate accommodation, after an aborted plan to relocate him to Galle following his positive Covid test.

Jadeja will likely miss some of England's tour of India, he's suffered a fractured thumb.

Will make no difference, the absolute best I’m expecting from that tour is one win.

I'm a bit torn over this Indian tour. I wanted them to get a good hammering so they're in bad form for when England arrive but I also cannot abide Australia winning. It's a real quandary.

When these two play I just always root for the away team.

This isn't a good look for Steve Smith

After sandpaper-gate this just reconfirms the sort of sportsperson he is. I've no doubt he'll go down as one of the biggest accumulator of test runs when his career's over, but they'll be scant respect for him.

India winning but losing all their players to injury seems like a pretty good option.

Paine received a fine for verbally abusing Ashwin, and Steven Smith absolutely wasn't removing Pant's guard marks in any way. It was just one of his 'many quirks' apparently, which coincidentally just happened to have the same effect of removing Pant's guard at that particular part of the wicket.

He was practising his batting. It's irrelevant that it was at the start of the final session of a 5 day test in the 4th innings and he was doing it left handed. I've not seen that big a stretch (from Tim Paine) since watching The Incredibles. I'd be (even more) embarrassed if I was an Aussie.
