I think that was my fault. I only just noticed the cricket was on Channel 4. 2 seconds after tuning in, Root is out.

Blame Channel 4! I don't watch any cricket these days as it's always on Sky. If they didn't allow Channel 4 to have it, Root would be approaching 500 now.

Just thinking, unless Bess is on the verge of a 50 then I would declare when the next wicket goes down.

I guess England's aim is to try and be in a position where they're the ones bowling on the 5th day to get a victory. Apparently Chennai can fall apart rapidly on day 5, based on what I've read on cricinfo and other places. Declaring any earlier than they absolutely have to is very risky in India, because they potentially can score at a higher rate on days 3 and 4, get a lead, and put England in a perilous position on day 5.

Which I think is roughly what happened in one test the last time England were in India.

Last time in Chennai India made 750+ with Karun Nair making an unbeaten triple century.

So has big Dom. Not sure you're going to get 2 better wickets than that to kick of a tour. :toot:

Another fantastic day. If we do enforce the follow on tomorrow I'd expect to see Stokes bowl more. India need another 122 runs to avoid that option being on the table though.

I think if we skittle them before lunch than we'll have a dart for 30 overs or so. Anything after lunch though (amd assuming it's an option) then I think we push the follow on. England need to take a risk tomorrow if they want to win but they might give India a sniff.

What do we want to get 400 lead, bowl at them later today?
