I just had to look so I could answer that question on the poll. Each year has seen my playtime increase. 2018 was a large leap over 2017 total, and while the distance between 2018 and 2019 was somewhat smaller, the total playtime of 2019 was still near 550 hours. 2020, from what I can see so far, is already halfway to that number just from my top three games. One of those games has entered the top three just this year (easy to guess which), with the other one having boosted itself to the second spot just six months earlier (also easy to guess which). With other games like Saints Row: The Third and LEGO The Incredibles filling out that playtime, along with Hyrule Warriors coming soon, I'm sure 2020 will have seen just as much Switch playtime as last year.
2021 might be different. At this point in time, I feel I might be able to edge that playtime out to 600 hours next year, but it does all depend on what games are released. Mario 3D World is one I'll more than likely be going for, and it's very likely I'll be double dipping on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and it's possible I'd do the same for a Sonic the Hedgehog release. Beyond that, though? No idea. One thing I do know is that both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Farming Simulator 17 will still be getting a lot of playtime and in doing so will account for half of the yearly playtime once again.
That's personal to me, but I'm pretty confident in saying that even without a revised model next year, the Switch comfortably has three years left of being a popular machine to the world. Nintendo will probably have released a next generation machine in that time, so while sales of the console might fall off when that happens, the software will still continue to shift units.
I’d still prefer it if they left releasing the Switch 2 (please Nintendo, just stick with it) as long as possible so the bump in power is more noticeable, hopefully with full backwards compatibility for the Switch games too! I’ve no idea just how powerful a next gen Switch could be but the longer they leave it the better it could be, just imagine if portable games looked like Xbox One/PS4 gen of games and then docked was closer to the One X/Pro variants, or a rock solid 1080p/60fps with more graphical bells and whistles. Again no idea if this would even be possible but it’s nice to dream!
The only thing the Switch is missing from being the de facto best Nintendo console they’ve done (for me it’s more or less there already) is the Virtual Console coming back in my opinion.

I would think Nvidia could create a chip for the switch that could easily do base level PS4 by now as I the power of the iPad Air/pro I believe is already beyond that of the PS4 and the iPads are using low power ARM chips. I would like Nintendo to hold off on a switch 2 for another few years as they have shown they don't need the graphical power to make fun games and I think indie games make up for not having the AAA third party games for me.

Yeah if Nintendo stick with the Arm architecture there's no reason we can't have a significantly more powerful Switch 2 that also maintains compatibility with this generation. The Tegra chip in the Switch is several generations behind the latest from Nvidia now so there is plenty of scope for progression along this line

So just up to Nintendo to decide how much they want to spend on the chipset for the new console then, let’s hope they’re willing to spend a bit more on a newer chip.
Mine gets played on nearly every day and is easily the number one console in the house. We've got Mario AllStars 3D to play at Xmas, and I've bought, but not played, some other stellar games such as NSMB and the remastered Zelda.
My backlog of shame is mounting, too. Haven't even started Civ 6 and never quite finished BotW.
Plan on buying Mario and Sonic at the Olympics at some point, and possibly Mario Party too.
There's a LOT of life in this yet; in our house, at least.
