Eivor is a Viking who receives this badass weapon and has to learn very quickly. Early in the experience, Eivor will learn a technique that, with the right timing... can one-shot-kill virtually anybody."

Recent entries such as Odyssey and Origins fiddled with the hidden blade's mechanics so it wasn't always a guaranteed kill (enemies could resist, although in Odyssey you could try and spec your character to override this). It was a change that bothered some fans. These games also phased out social stealth - the series' original focus on blending into crowds - which will also return in Valhalla.

This game should be a decent showcase for next gen as Odyssey looked bloody amazing on the One X.
I have it pre-ordered (I know, I'm part of the problem :shifty: ) for Xbox which has the next gen upgrade.

I enjoyed Origins but I would rather have the old AC back instead of the series continuing to be a Witcher 3 alike.

Proper insta (and social stealth) kills are back:

Minor bump: Parcast has released two episodes of its Secret Societies podcast about the real order of Assassins, an Islamic sect that operated across the Middle East around the 12th century.

Fans of Assassin's Creed should give it a listen. I can't find it on YouTube, but it is on Spotify, and probably other services, like iTunes and Stitcher.

Creative lead has left the game. (He was exposed cheating on his wife.)

Days without game developer controversy [0]

Is the games industry a particular hive of shitlords, or just that they are in more visible positions so more people find out about it? If its not developers having affairs it's streamers being racists or paedos.

The one thing I would say about this particular person, is, even though he's a horrible person for cheating on his wife, there's no evidence that he's abused anyone.

It depends on your definition of abuse.

He emotionally manipulated several different women, carrying on affairs without telling them he was married. Some of these relationships lasted over a year. Imagine your partner suddenly being revealed as a lying, manipulative cheater after a year, imagine the trauma that would put you through and tell me that's not emotional abuse.

I was extremely close to making a thread on the revelations of the past few days but I really didn't want to deal with all those who would inevitably play devils-advocate*. What it has revealed though is that the majority of games developers have a toxic, abusive culture that actively sidelines and discards women and minorities and that people like this only further this mindset.

*this isn't a diss at you Photek.

I asked Steve Ballmer for his opinion on the most predatory type of people in the gaming industry.
His response?

I guess emotionally that IS abuse, not trying to play devils advocate and maybe the sheer disgusting behavior I read about the past few days made this guys affair seem less serious. I only know about the 1 woman who was with him a year that he lied to. If he did that to multiple women then he's as bad as the rest.

Just how lazy were the Vikings?
Making the bed is slightly irritating but having multiple slaves just for that seems like an awful waste of manpower.
Easy job for the slaves though to be fair.

Well, tbf, Origins is wildly different to Unity that came before it but it seems that they are now just using hte Origins template going forward.
