Been back on with this today while letting my Switch charge and taking a break from Bowser’s Fury. I’ve been exploring East Anglia and I’ve got to say this has been the best one to explore so far for myself, mainly as I have been on holiday there a lot so have been to quite a lot of the points of interest in the region so finding them in game was rather neat!

Sadly I’m yet to find Alan Partridge :(

Edit, nearly finished the East Anglia arc and it really has been great, obviously still going for a lot of the loot as I think I’ll need plenty to even upgrade all the starting gear to max level (still need another 25 odd titanium to upgrade everything to level 8) but once I’ve done that I’ll probably just crack on with the main quests and world events which should speed up things by a fair bit!

I started this today after picking it up yesterday. Already I can see it's going to consume a lot of my spare time.

I am going for Platinum and I have played for over 70 hours now and probably think I will need another 70 to 100% complete

Managed to put a few more hours into this already this week and while I don’t think you can deny it’s not a bad game, it’s very good in fact, it just doesn’t feel like a very good Assassins Creed game so far. I’ve not delved too much into the tree of Templars you have to unlock but even if/when I do I don’t see it having much of an impact on the main quest. Feels like Black Flag all over again, fantastic game but just not a great AC game, anyone else find it the same or just me?

I know what you mean, normally I try and play Assassins Creed stealthy by checking out the area and marking the targets etc but this one I just tend to storm in wielding my axe which is probably more Viking like anyway, I have not done the trophy yet for killing 10 without conflict where as normally I would get one like that early on, I still love the game and in terms of hours put into it will be one of my most played games ever

That’s what I’m finding, very little penalty for not being stealthy too. As I said, as a Viking game it’s amazing, much like Black Flag was a pirate game but I’m unsure how it’ll fare as an AC game by the end of it. Won’t stop me playing the main quest to the end mind.

After nearly 58 hours, I’m getting bored of grabbing all the loot  what regions do you start getting the tungsten ingots in? Do you need a boat load of titanium to fully upgrade the armour/weapons in the last 4 levels too?

Doesn’t feel like Lunden will be a long arc but it has been very enjoyable so far, the first arc that feels anything remotely like an Assassins Creed game in my opinion.

The city arcs are intentionally the assassin ones. I agree assassin's creed style stealth doesn't fit with Eivor's characterisation, given the choice I always go for a raid rather than lone wolf stealth and it suits it a lot better I think. I'm just trying to push through to the end of the story now 100+ hours in. My girlfriend actually got the platinum with something like 160 hours and I do not intend to do the same!

Not a chance will I be putting 160 hours into it

The typical Ubisoft open world just gets to me after a while, so many collectibles that litter the map, with very little incentive to clear it all after a good chunk of time.

Edit, just hit Vinland anyway.

Tungsten and titanium are in the higher level regions. You'll need loads of titanium yes.

I would turn on the 1-hit stealth kills and then go off to complete the areas that are way above your power level. This makes it like classic AC where the enemies can 1-shot you easily so you have to rely on stealth to do pretty much anything. It ramps the tension up immeasurably. I would also ignore the story and go do the Hidden Ones missions ASAP. You won't be powerful enough for London yet and York is way too hard to try anything other than Stealth.

I’ll keep buying titanium from the shop then, it’s the only thing I’ve spent any money on so far anyway. What region does tungsten appear in? Want to know when I need to start picking up the loot again as it just kills the pace of the game for me, constantly grabbing chests with leather and iron.

I’ve just done Lunden, was only recommended power level 90, in Vinland now which is a 160 area, just with my hidden blade so hoping this feels a bit more classic AC! I might turn on the one hit stealth kills too.

Tungsten is found anywhere with a power level of 160 and above.

Thanks, I can leave Shropshire (which is next for me after Vinland) and then start picking stuff up again. Is it the same of 1 tungsten for each armour piece, then 3 for each weapon/shield?

That’s what it’s been for the past couple of upgrades (so carbon and nickel ingots) so can’t see it being different for the last one.

Just about finished up in Vinland, love how it slightly connects to AC3. Vinland is stunning graphically as well

Vinland is cool, basically the eventide island of the game, but such an obvious example of unnecessary padding. I also waited to go there until it was trivially easy because taking a 3 week voyage across an ocean is not something that makes sense for much of the game's plot.

I'm just finishing up Eurvicscire and it might be, unfortunately, the worst arc yet. Which is shame because a) it had been built up quite a lot by other arcs, and b) it wastes the picts in all but one early mission. Hadrian's wall is very cool to traverse at least.

Even though it didn’t quite fit the idea of going to Vinland (as you needed to blend in), the armour you could trade for was really neat, but for some reason you must have chucked it into the ocean on your return journey as you can’t use it in England

Shropshire arc up next after I’ve explored the Assassin Bureau in Lunden, despite me saying how much I hate the loot aspect I still find myself collecting most of it :fp:
