Got this game the other day for PS5 and it's fine? so far I think. I've been focussing on story though just to get everything opened up. Have reached England so I suppose I'm pretty much there now.

I seem to do this with every AC game though. Hear about the new one, I like the theme or whatever and end up buying it then immediately realise I don't particularly like playing them. The combat in this one is taking some getting used to and the lock-on feature seems to be all over the place, maybe it's just not designed to be used when there's a group of enemies because it jumps between everyone?

Hopefully games in development are straight up copying how Ghost of Tsushima did open world navigation because the compass with the glowing balls is an obvious downgrade from GoT.

England has never looked better though.

I only really use lock on for bosses, I agree it doesn't work very well with groups of enemies. With the combat the weirdest initial hurdle for me was that landing successful attacks replenishes stamina, it's only blocking and missed attacks that drain it - as soon as I started playing aggressively and stopped thinking I had to manage stamina it clicked. The colour coded enemy attack flashes make parrying and dodging very easy (I think they are design crutches tbh) and then the combat (other than against bosses you are massively underleveled for) becomes pretty trivial. Definitely prioritise some of the skills though, they make combat (and stealth) a lot more fun.

I found countering his attacks worked much better than dodging (which I tried the first time and he took me out easily ).

I think you might have to parry to complete that world event.

Always parry yellow attacks, just dodge red ones (the only exception I have found to this is when you get staggered attacking a blocking pikeman and they counter, you don't recover quickly enough to parry but you do recover quickly enough to dodge)

Too big

I haven't done the part you are referring to yet (it's hard to try and justify during the story having time to just leave for another country) but I have watched my girlfriend play it and it honestly seems like it could have been DLC. Same for Asgard and Jotunheim and to be honest they could have just cut all of Norway too and still had plenty enough game in England alone!

I think I'm almost at half way mark and it's been 86 hours so far.

It's included every regions 100%.

It's a bigger game than Odyssey easily

Read that spoiler and I did not know the second one existed in the game. Jesus.

TBH I've absolutely zero interest in the Asgard stuff. It feels extremely tacked on, especially after God of War did that world so much better.

Without any spoilers I think the story significance of playing those two locations is really interesting (providing you like the animus/ancient aliens side of AC lore and aren't just here for viking roleplay, but it's honestly pretty central to the game's plot) so I don't know how I would reconcile that if I were remaking the game. I'd want them playable for that, but I'd want to cut them for overall pacing and making the game leaner. Perhaps it's the commitment to making these extra locations open-world where the problem lies (and cynically I suspect that was driven by marketing wanting a "bigger map than any other Assassin's Creed!" angle). If they just took the story missions from them as a linear reprieve you'd still get that story content but without the open world exhaustion - they might even help the pacing in giving you a break from that structure!

Vinland is a relatively small map but yeah I rolled my eyes when I initially unlocked it too.

I’m thinking that maybe clearing all areas 100% is looking highly unlikely for me as there is simply to much

You'd have to be bloody bonkers to even try.
The amount of time you'd need is insane unless you find a way to speed run everything. I like the game but there's no way I'm getting near 33% completion let alone 100%.

I've done 100% on every region so far and I've just arrived at Lincolnshire. 8-)

I've been making my way through Gloucestershire.

Those bloody cairn puzzles are doing my head in though.

I just did my 3rd and it did take a while but I feel my previous experience at totally beating Tumble on PSVR with ease :shifty: made all the difference.
If you need someone to do a puzzle usually done by toddlers then I'm your man!

If I can 100% Oddyssey and all its DLC, I can 100% this but these cairns are killing me.

Yeah, the early ones i had no trouble with, but the last few i've come across have been a nightmare and i have had to move on and leave them before they drove me completely insane.

Just got to Asgard, looks bloody lovely

I’m a little underlevelled so will do the Leicestershire arc and then come back to start (and probably finish) the Asgard arc of the game unless you go back in.
