I’m not feeling this yet. Finding other games I want to play ahead of this and when I do fire it up, I’m not grabbed.

When does it pick up the pace? I’m only at the stage where you’ve returned to your home town and waiting to meet the king and have to upgrade your fathers axe for the first time

The game properly starts when you get to England. You have like three story missions to do which are basically tutorials and then you'll be there.

This is great. (Not really a spoiler, just details of one of the world events, but spoilered in case someone wants to avoid seeing anything.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla contains an unexpected tribute to The Prodigy's Keith Flint.

Credit for this discovery goes to Rock Paper Shotgun guides editor Jake Green, who found the mission and posted its details on Twitter yesterday.

Head to Essex, The Prodigy's home county, and to the rough location of North End, the hamlet near Braintree where Flint passed away in March last year, aged just 49.

There you'll find a band playing, and a man named Keith with familiar-looking spiked hair who invites Eivor to dance.

Lyrics to the song include the line: "Smack my bishop! Smack my bishop!"

PS5 seems to be the best version, which is curious...

I mean they both look more or less identical from what I’ve watched, even the with the fps drops

PS5 has the slightly better fps, that custom SSD :datass:

Someone let slip they’ve got me this for Christmas anyway (so I don’t go and buy myself a copy) so looks like I’ll be waiting a while before jumping into it! Xbox Series X might have had those frame rate drops patched out by then

Oh it definitely will have, not that a few fps would make much difference to myself personally!

Differences are tiny but they should all get patched for screen tear. Ubisoft patched the previous 2 for ages after so I’m sure things will be resolved, the LOD is quite low but I didn’t notice it in game much tbh.

Like Digital Foundry, I'm still amazed how good Unity looks.

I'm playing Unity at the moment on XSX and the artwork is still stunning 6 years on

Sitting closer to 60 hours - granted there's some inactivity time to take in account, shouldn't be more than five hours in total though.

It's... big. I haven't played Odyssey or Origins yet, so I can only comment on Ezio trilogy and Black Flag and I don't think either of these are at 50hrs before I've done 30% of story! Or that's what tracker says anyway

Just finished Lundon which was pretty cool, doing Oxen arc now.

Still only in the very early stages, but it’s starting to grab me now. It felt like I was going to bounce off it for a while, but I’m adjusting to it.

I'm on the verge of bouncing off it tbh, but I was the same with Origins and Odyssey but gave them a couple of weeks off and when I went back I loved them so I can see this grabbing me for the xmas.

I've settled on just doing the story and not exploring on my own unless I'm in a place because of the story as it makes the game way more immersive

Has anyone else abused the skill point redistribution? I spent 10 minutes redistributing points just to unveil the entire sphere grid skill tree so I could decide which skills to prioritise. Very worth it considering some of them are straight up quality of life like auto-loot, and the instant assassination of higher level enemies is necessary for me to not get annoyed at the game!

What I didn't realise was quitting out of the skill menu then reopening it would reset the fog-of-war to hide what you don't currently have unlocked. Luckily I can remember which direction to go for the things I want!

It's a dumb system though to have the fog of war considering you can redistribute skill points for free and as much as you want.

Wait, it does? Because for me I swear they stay revealed when I exit and come back?

Unless I misread and fog of war is skill...

But yeah, when I started out I focused on bear skilltree which works well for just going through early parts of game but when I got more than enough to have full bear tree, I respecced around a bit to get ardanale bars, hp, dagger/flail/1h axe and assassin skills that helps me take down tougher enemies faster (and handy ability that lets me throw axe to another after killing one enemy via assassination).

What I like is however if you wanted challenge you can just respec and only go up to power level, not that I'll do this but it's still neat way to give you choice.

It reset for me, whether that was intentional or a bug I can't tell you. Every part of the skill tree I hadn't unlocked (or had an unlock next to) got reshrouded in fog.

Forgot to post, yeah it happened to me too. My memory might be affected by fog as well :shifty:

Either way though yeah it's dumb as strawberry float. Ah well I have about 202~ power so now I can see all of it, just matter of picking up perks I need as I think I'm sorted on abilities.

Other than the weirdness of the fog - I think it's a really cool skill/level system! Very much reminds me of FFX's sphere grid and that's very much a good thing.
