PostTHREE Assassin's Creed TV series coming to Netflix - Live action + animated + anime!

With a tweet Netflix reveal a teaser trailer for Assassin's Creed TV series that was first announced at the start of 2018. I love the Ezio character and Italy setting and the 'truth' behind the Bible stories. It will be interesting if the TV programme chooses this or is more free and dips into all the eras! Netflix will be developing the series and Ubisoft's Jason Altman, the executive producer of Mythic Quest and Danielle Kreinik, Ubisoft's director of TV development will serve as executive producers.

Ubisoft posted on their blog revealing at least THREE series are in the works:
Assassin’s Creed is coming to streaming devices and no, we’re not talking about xCloud or Luna. A brand-new, live-action Assassin’s Creed series is coming to Netflix. The deal includes multiple different series, the first of which will be a genre-bending live-action epic, while the others will be animated and anime adaptations. The live action series is currently searching for a showrunner. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as executive producers.

“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise,” said Jason Altman, Head of Ubisoft Film & Television - Los Angeles. “We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix, and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”

It'll be 10 hours of strawberry floating Desmond training in a warehouse in the present day.

That's not a teaser trailer, that's an animated logo

Probably! Hopefully they can do something good with the present day/near future framing stories.

This feels like something that could be fantastic but will probably turn out rather mediocre.

Meh. Doesn't appeal to me at all. There are loads of videogames that would make for good options for TV or film adaptations, but I wouldn't have said Assassin's Creed was one of them.

The games should've just been about being an assassin in a particular point in history, and that's it - none of this utter bollocks about memories, or science fiction, or ancestors. Presumably the film and TV series focus on that though, which in turn makes it sound completely boring. Admittedly I haven't seen the film, so I don't know how that fared, but a TV series doesn't sound good.

A lot of what the animus framing device brings to the games (as an explanation for game overs for example or other non-canonical player actions, or as flavour for the game elements like the HUD) isn't relevant to a non-interactive TV series. It'll still cover anachronisms if they want to be lazy (or in budget) with their history though.

I always find the story the least interesting thing about an AC game so its a pass from me (unless it gets sparkling reviews).

I like the idea of this, I mean there's a lot of scope for a much richer story than the games could ever deliver, but I worry that it'll be mishandled.

Looking forward to them going out of their way to make it nothing like the games.

I imagine they'll use the film as a guide.

Make it a Hannibal-esque murder tableau.

It could be great if it were a different time period and setting each week, with the assassin going for their kill. Would also mean the protagonist could be different each week.

I hope they start with Altair, as that would at least be a bit of a unique setting for a TV series. They could do a "The Crown" with this. Season 1 and 2 = Altair, Season 3 and 4 = Ezio, Season 5 and 6 = Pirates. Then wrap it up with a final 7th season in modern day with Desmond for the obligatory shite ending.

Let's just start a pressure group for Quantum Leap season 6 so we get a decent ending.
