From reading on ResetEra the new chip means the unit could be capable of up to PS3 emulation, which may suddenly make it a much more appealing purchase for some.

I think the lack of specs is most troubling aspect.
Is this thing a beast worthy of the asking price or a complete rip-off?

Surely knowing the abilities of the machine is crucial information for customers.

I still can't quite believe that we're gonna see a new Atari console! I'd love for it to do really well... we'll see!

I can't believe that so long after the unveil and so close to launch we still don't have a clue what it is and not a single game has been unveiled.

I'm surprised a dev or insider hasn't leaked specs yet either.

It looks like they've just switched specs. I'm guessing they're using off the shelf stuff so don't actually have to hammer down the final specs until a little before launch.

I'd be surprised if this ever gets a European release. It'll be dead on arrival in the US.

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/06/ataris-new-vcs-isnt-a-console-but-it-isnt-quite-a-computer-either/

They've shown off the console. I have to say I love it, but I can't see this thing taking off.

That said if you want a nice looking cheap PC then this might be worth a shot TBH.

https://www.thegamer.com/atari-vcs-cons ... available/

It's coming in November although no chance that it's going to be out in the UK then. Apparently it's running a AMD R1606G and it'll be smoked by an launch PS4, let alone a PS5 or new XBox.

Most disappointing launch in a long time.
I think they could have got quite a lot of sales if it had been good but this is overpriced and underpowered.

Some folk have been receiving their new Atari VCS consoles and videos are appearing on YouTube. It seems fair to say that opinions are generally mixed at present. To me, the hardware itself looks neat but there seem to be some buggy aspects in operation and the game line-up is pretty slim.
