I think it would be weird if they took that out now.

Especially when you go back and listen to other artists and it's included.

I reckon it's a deliberate part of the live sound as well. Sure maybe it gets picked up on a condenser mic more but you can't remove that live so why remove it from the album.

It's very annoying if you focus on it though

I went through a period where I genuinely couldn't listen to their stuff any more as a result of only being able to hear it! :dread:

I'm fine now though! :slol:

Oh you bastard Jen, now I'll notice it!

The worst example has to be the guy from Keane, it sounds like a vacuum cleaner is on in between words.

Have Muse done anything decent since BH&R (or The Resistence depending how you received that one)?

There's the odd half decent track, but no albums that I would consider anywhere close to great.

The only album I like post black holes is drones, I really like that one. Shame they didn't do any more albums after that.

First time we saw them was on the resistance tour. It was amazing, but I really don't like the album. I think I always try to like it but I really only get on with the first 2 tracks.

Got black holes on now, I really hope my neighbours like muse

Can they hear it over the sound of hedge strimmers?

I really like the first few songs on The Resistance. Drones didn't grab me at all.

I kid you not, I've just had to close the window because bin bint's dad has come around to mow the lawn and fired up this absurd petrol powered mower. It sounds like a clapped out VW beetle and strawberry floating stinks.

I liked drones a fair bit, some cracking riffage, had some favourites from 2nd law (madness really clicked with me just because of its simplicity and its anthemic and antithetical for Bellamy to sing about LOVE like he's just realised that's the meaning of life lol) which I generally enjoyed and I actually really liked the synth direction of Simulation Theory.

So a giant fanboy then, nah, I think they all have something to offer. I think the one I forgot fastest was resistance. My favorites are probably still black holes, absolution and OSS probably in joint place, I go back to Showbiz often but my first CD album was OOS, however I really have a thing for their b sides and never paid a great deal of attention to back to back album play.

If I could list all the bsides that would pretty much make my favourite album. Oh and yes I totally forgot about hullabaloo which was the strawberry floating point lol, but it's missing a lot from previous and subsequent releases (examples, Glorious, Fury, The Groove, Futurism, Eternally Missed and so many others).

Gotta check this OoS remaster out by the sounds of it.

Re the more recent stuff discussion, I really liked Drones, definitely my favourite of their later albums. Really enjoyed them leaning into their heavier side a bit.

I do think there's some good stuff on Resistance too, but not quite enough on there to carry a whole album. I haven't given their latest one enough of a listen to give it a proper judgement, I think I've only listened to it all once.

I consider The 2nd Law to be one of the worst albums I've ever bought. :slol:

Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are my favourites. I would take Absolution slightly over OoS. I mean, Stockholm Syndrome? That is a tune.

The XX Anniversary remix of Citiizen Erased is incredible, as is the remix of Microcuts.

The latter sounds like they've rerecorded the vocals.

They have, at first I thought because Bellamy struggles to hit the high notes, but does it anyway 20 years later. It's probably more in keeping with what they would perform now.

Although it's worth bearing in mind there are probably still tapes or backups of all sorts of unused takes, some of which made it out as demo cds. It does sound a lot more like his trained vocal now, than the chaotic talent of the past.

They've also either brought forward strings in the mix or newly arranged them with a string quartet.

Really good. Haven't messed with any of the songs. As you know they absolutely could have done.

The album features no re-recorded parts, but the new mixes highlight certain parts of the original songs that were previously buried or muted on the original album, such as string sections in "Space Dementia", "Citizen Erased" and "Megalomania", and a harpsichord on "Micro Cuts".

I like most of it. That riff will sound immense live.

It's a decent blend of new Muse fused with some reminder of their previous heavier stuff for sure. Hopefully this album is heavier sounding overall.

That was everything I expected and more.

Hopefully the new album will be more towards the heavier side of the Muse 'spectrum'.
