First time I actually listened through that.

Pretty sick track.

The tracklisting for the new album looks like something you'd think up at school.

This album is going to be awful, isn't it?

I'm not sure that's much new, but yeah, it was a laugh reading that. I find the superimposed letters or whatever kind of annoying but meh.

I don't think they've ever got the knack for naming songs to be perfectly honest.

I mean, have you read the last few albums tracklists? song naming, and even lyric writting have never been the bands (namely Matt's) strong point.

I'm expecting like the last few albums for there to be a handful of average tracks but with at least two decent tracks. That's all we can expect from a modern Muse.

Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I think the last couple of albums have been a relative return to form for Muse. And a quick glance at the tracklist for those records shows nothing anywhere near as cringy as 'you make me feel like it's halloween' or 'ghosts (how can I move on)'. Or, you know, that other obvious one.

I've tried and tried, and I just can't stand the last few albums they've done. They're a chore to get through.

I've decided to make my own muse album for you all to listen to in place of this.

The tracklist is:

0. STATIK (hidden track)
1. Watch over you
2. Guiding sun
3. Masters of the universal
4. Submissive
5. DesTINY / DesHUGE
6. U R INSTRAMETAL (instrumental)
7. Gravity cannonball
8. Sender of signals
9. Warp
10. The nature of suspension
11. Receiver of signals reprise
12. The chicken song

I suppose they could adopt the Aphex Twin approach to song naming (AKA have a cat walk across the keyboard).

1. wasgterbum6467[gk2.436]
2. uhg3356.7rr45 (python testes mix)
3. ooooooooooohhhhhhhsick666
4. global nerf beefcake (tastemyface mix)
5. butseks
6. [275hurts)
7. hamsterppuch3w.657ghf
8. Sponge helix
9. vram4gbshouldbefine

You forgot 10. bumflick802000.aiff

My favourite track names are still "WINNIPEG IS A FROZEN SHITHOLE" followed by the similarly titled "Winnipeg is strawberry floating Over" by Venetian Snares.

Edit: I was wrong, the 1st one is an entire album.

It's the worst thing I've ever heard them do. Their own fans created this mess though, Simulation Theory was a genuinely decent pop record and Muse fans just cry because there's not enough guitars on it.

Seeing them at IoW festival next week.

I have not really been in to any of their stuff for the best part of 20 years now, and yet they were still the most interesting band of the whole line up. This thread and the most recent posts have managed to snuff out that small ember of hope that I might have a good time in what will no doubt be torrential rain and a malfunctioning tent.

Muse are always brilliant live, you've got no worries there. They could release an album of Matt Bellamy farting through a nose flute on repeat and they'd still come out and rock it on tour.

I mean, they basically have to be better than..... Rudimental? Given what I know about their "musical" stylings, I would rather listen to him farting through my tent door....

I think their album output has been mostly dogshit for a long long time, yet I wouldn't skip seeing them live if I had the chance because they're always brilliant.

Thing is I'm always like "wat" when a new Muse single comes out these days but then after a couple of listens I start to realise there is lot of fairly inventive stuff going on and it is hard not to get stuck into it, because they get quite catchy. That's a kind of contemporary progressive pop rock or something.

I've felt that way since Supermassive Black Hole and at that juncture I started to expect something different from Muse every album and so I maintain a sort of alternative timeline from that and whatever they were doing (and still come back to in at least a few songs per album) with the grunge/alternative/post-rock/hard rock of Showbiz/OOS/Absolution.

I don't think anyone could deny Muse are incredible live and that's what they have always been about. They do take risks in the studio and in my view that's good.

Doing the same thing for a band coming on 30 years now would be miserable for them. Won't Stand Down is a huge track that ticks a lot of boxes. They habitually release a single to strawberry float with everyone for each album - for Simulation Theory (which I overall really enjoyed) that was Something Human.

Edit:

This is a pretty sick amalgamation of everything they've done for about the past 15 years - and it's heavy as strawberry float in sections.

That tapping whammy solo :slol:

I heard it on the radio earlier and couldn't believe it wasn't a piss take. Truly awful.
