The chorus on that one is a bit much, but I think the rest of the song is alright. Certainly a world away from the disaster that is Will Of The People. And Something Human has always been just fine.

I gave up with Muse after The 2nd Law. I wasn't especially keen on The Resistance but after the follow-up it it seemed a case of diminishing returns. Still love the earlier albums though.

I like the pop-rock stuff.

I just kind of think of it like Muse A, Muse B, Muse C.

I've always contended that a diverse artist is a better one. Standing still is a compulsory path into an even worse kind of mediocrity and irellelevance.

Maybe it started with songs like, Glorious, and The Groove. The more uplifting songs have appealed to me in worse moments. There's something about mobilising angst in Muse's music, and as incredibly cheesy as it is, "I need to love" in Madness just straight up says it. Muse matured as a band from something that was all about being a small town musician in Teignmouth to something that assembles people in a celebration of having a good time and having a go at it, despite all the gooseberry fool in the world. I've never found that lacking in their output; it remains refreshing set against straight up black metal, which I also enjoy.

Given I actually like 2 of the new singles and they're playing Huddersfield next year convinced my dad to get us some tickets.

Fingers crossed there's a decent setlist and maybe for ONCE I'll see Hysteria live.

Got 2 tickets for MK Bowl for me and my younger son through album presale code.

He’ll be so excited when I tell him as he’s been desperate to see them for a couple of years (he’s 12 now and seen Kiss and Rammstein so far)

Yeah, I saw them twice on Simulation Theory tour for my 1st time. We’ve watched a couple of their concert films on Amazon Prime too.

He loves ST and Drones too

Got 5 for Huddersfield. Forgot that they went live at 9 though so had a mad panic.

Last time I seen them was Leeds '11!

Had the new album delivered from the official shop earlier. Currently listening to it and so far it's meh.

Need to give it more listens and properly. It's on in a room 2 rooms away from where I'm working but not too loud so as not to disturb my wife who's working not far away.

I've seen them live twice and they do not disappoint! Hope you both have a great time!

Looking forward to giving the new album a play tomorrow whilst I'm working.

The silly neighbourhood vegetable.

Better or worse than Simulation Theory?

Initial thoughts after one full listen.

WotP - It's stupidly catchy. Will probably be a good live song (and opener for set).
Compliance - Meh, I've never gotten on board with the 80s synth obsession.
Liberation - Literally already forgotten this exists.
Won't Stand Down - Can't wait for this live. Harks back a bit to some old school Muse.
Ghosts - It's a ballad. Sits in the middle for me.
Halloween - Hilarious. I've no idea why it exists but it should win the "Most Ridiculous Song of 22".
KobK - Breakdowns baby! :datass:
Verona - Who said Matt couldn't write good lyrics? /s
Euphoria - Again forgotten it. Think it was ok.
WaFF - This needed more edge to it. Like, it's close to being a real banger but it doesn't suit his style of singing. Possibly unintentionally hilarious lyrics mind.

I skipped Simulation Theory bar like 1 or 2 songs so can't say if it's better or not.

My guess is that they worked out that there aren't enough Halloween songs and realised if they made one it would give them guaranteed streams every year for the rest of time.

It's probably already been signed up to soundtrack Asda's budget Halloween kids dress up range this year.

Seems like there's something for everyone and fairly typical layout for a Muse album (including all their past albums).

Listening the up until now unreleased tracks, Liberation is a very well written melodic composition that adds to the piano repertoire.

Won't Stand Down absolutely slaps.

As usual I'll need to pump the proper speakers a few times to get the most out of it and while this one seems to be hitting pretty close to the mark it will be weeks/months until I consistently find myself either playing the whole album or specific songs.

So again, just like every previous Muse album.

I really liked Simulation Theory, I would only skip one or two songs on that.

Edit: YMMFLIH - holy gooseberry fool  this makes me think of Bravely Default, VGM, and Doom for some reason. Hitting the synths and guitar shredding hard. This is huge fun.

Edit: OK Verona started off well but I really hard to turn the U2 guitar down and the lyrics, my strawberry floating god that's hard to imagine Bellamy essentially in bed. It's much better when the drums come in, but it's not the build-up I really enjoy in Madness, for example.

"I wanna strawberry float you like an animal" is easier to get through - I think this is Bellamy's "let's make love" song that's either more, or less honest, depending on how much of a sickly romantic he actually is. It's 100% cool to have this in an album and how much I relate will probably depend on how blue balled and lonely and/or lustful I am.

I think the DIY review summed it up best.

A smorgasbord of dystopian-flavoured cringe.

But the whole point of cringe is that it's good.

Also, they really shouldn't have waited 2m 30s to bring a beat into Verona, after that it's good.

We Are strawberry floating strawberry floated has some "real" vibes, which is very welcome. Of course, the rest is mostly bombastic self-fulfilment. I don't think that's a bad thing at all. That's pretty much the entire point of the band.
