Best tracks aren't on albums. :simper: (unless you count Hullabaloo. Which you don't, no-one ever does.)

I do miss less over-produced drums though. They should never have got that studio in Lake Como. Everything sounds way too perfect, what happened to putting kicks in swimming pools, recording outside etc.

Didn't they recently play Can't Take My Eyes Off you live? I think it was in Japan. I would have screamed like a little girl.

Got a ticket for the muse show in Shepherd's Bush today :D fans get to vote on the songs, 10 song choices each, so it'll be interesting to see what they come out with. For me, Muscle Museum and Butterflies and Hurricanes are a must. I've been quite lucky in the other 11 shows to see most of what I want them to play so that'll be tough to pick highlights from.

That song's been a staple of Manic Street Preachers' live shows for years. I think I'd struggle to get excited about anyone playing it, though.

I remember seeing Metallica play a fan voted setlist. It was awful, because people just voted for the same big hits they always play. Complete wasted opportunity.

Dig down 9 times, with madness as the encore.

God yeah. I flew to Helsinki on that tour because they managed to get Frayed Ends of Sanity on the setlist but when I saw them at Knebworth it was basically identical. Muse have previous for totally ignoring fan votes and they also know their hard core fans prefer the good songs like Dead Star and Micro cuts so I'm hoping they use a bit more common sense than Metallica. We'll see though.

This is literally the worst possible outcome. :(

I think I've seen both those songs, I remember Bellamy moving to the keyboard to do a loong part in 2007 .. But it might have been a dvd or United States of Eurasia or space dementia or strawberry float knows how many other piano songs.

I actually kept a list in a text file "muse songs seen live" :fp:

I think probably the best surprises have been Cave, The Groove and Ruled by Secrecy , but I can't remember them all.

I just use Setlist.fm to track them. You tell it what gigs you went to, and it generates all sorts of statistics for you. Most notably, song statistics. At the top, which I've excluded, is all the boring gooseberry fool you'd expect - its not interesting (or accurate) to say I've heard Knights of Cydonia 11 times, for example, because I walk out of gigs during it now. :shifty:

Highlight for me is seeing Origin of Symmetry in full. Best album ever.

Cave and RBS are also songs I'd like to "collect" but I imagine they're probably a bit quiet live compared to, say, Sunburn or Citizen Erased.

Absolution is so strawberry floating good. I was listening to that the other day.

Dat Stockholm Syndrome.

Cave wasn't quiet, but they made it weird and jaunty and played it entirely on piano. It was on the first rotating drums stage with ascending pillars at the O2. It's tuned down but Matt has more control over his voice. I really enjoyed it.

RBS was Wembley arena in 2010 (I went to both stadium gigs), it was bloody haunting. That song really takes me away sometimes as the 2nd part is so vocal driven.

What was really annoying though was people talking through it, because a lot of new fans from BH&R didn't recognise these old songs and how beautiful they can be. Especially since around 2010 Bellamy still had most of his upper vocal range, which is a bit gone now, in favour of much more presence and control, which is welcome to see an artist develop like that. It was around that time that Bellamy only just started getting any vocal coaching.

Is this what you hear when they play Knights?

I like it but I do wish they would stop closing with it.

Better than the last piece of gooseberry fool they put out. Just.

Decent song. Strong vibes of one of their better B-Sides (Fury) which certainly doesnt hurt.

I like Drones (album) though so maybe let's not take my views too seriously.

absolutely dreadful :dread:

Did they put another album out after Drones?

Sounds like an offcut that wasn't quite good enough to make it onto Drones.

Yikes, they really don't seem to have anything to offer these days do they?

OoS or Absolution would be their peak in my book, Black Holes was still great but things really started to dip from The Resistance onward for me.

Still their back catalogue offers more than enough good stuff so it's hard to be too disappointed in where they've found themselves.

Live band so studio output is almost irrelevant.

I'll listen to it tomorrow.

I do actually like drones. But you kind of have to add their last 3 albums together to match up to the first 2 or so which... Makes sense to be fair. A LOT of those first 3 album tracks were partly written before respective release.

What?

You see them live maybe once every other year. A decent album can be played hundreds of times. I still listen to OOS every now and again, I even enjoyed a lot of Drones. Their latest two singles have been pump, which does not bode well.

Remember when they were touring The Resistance (their worst album) and playing shite like MK Ultra and Undisclosed Desires? They still sounded like turds.

That song really wasn't good. It was better than the last thing I heard them put out. But still bad.

Yeah - I saw them do Dig Down last year (they opened Reading Festival with it) and it was atrocious lol.
