Those are some great picks, especially closing with those 2. I really like Eternally Missed. If they played it in 2002 last that means it was written before Absolution even came out, which I wasn't aware of.

Hopefully I can see them again at a small gig to hear a good mix of old and new. Brighton was strawberry floating great - nevermind it being the first gig at home since 2000 or something. I used to watch The Groove on the Absolution DVD extras, the atmosphere in that video, it was a real treat to see the same. But I still haven't seen Fury - there's not much too it though to be fair.

I went through a whole phase of basically just listening to Muse B-sides and it kind of got me interested in discography and B-sides in general to the extent that I almost ignore albums and just have a my few favourite picks and memories of live gigs.

Eternally Missed is a real prelude to Black Holes I would say.. with the dancier/funkier elements that came as a shock that didn't really shock me when that album was released. I think Absolution came out as an overly heavy album, even if it's one of my and most everyone's favourites - with people somehow completely forgetting Endlessly and the obvious dance influences in that.

But I even like Dead Inside, Panic Station and Madness so what do I know.

Dead Inside and Madness are strawberry floating bangers live, but as they're very close to being the same song, hearing them within a couple of slots of each other is utterly dreadful

they should play one or the other each night but obvs Bellamy isnt sensible about things like that

Space Dementia for best song of the night btw he absolutely murdered it

Well Warner copyright smashed the video so I won't see it. Is Muselive.com still a thing? ... Yeah, I didn't expect that to still exist. An authorised bootleg website in 2017, lolololol.

And yeah those two songs are very similar, I don't think I've heard them at the same gig. I saw the live debut of Dead Inside and was just like, wtf is this warm-up song, but the rest of the gig (apart from Psycho, which is basically just a riff, and I think the Handller or Repears, can't remember) was all older songs.

Pretty sure the stream is still on their official channels? I’ve not checked to be honest but I can’t imagine why theyd remove it

I meant that YouTube video above, I didn't know they streamed it at all.

Damn what is my ISP doing, was meant to be re-connected today. I'll listen to the new song at least.

Ahhh just seen the band have removed it

Full show was shown and it was one of the best they’ve done in years. Shepherd’s Bush last year was still the best though obviously. ;)

Download it via Reddit mirrors instead :) https://www.reddit.com/r/Muse/comments/ ... h=b4410ffc

Really pleasantly surprised by the new song, it's a sound they just haven't had before, reminds me of the horrors but with better vocals and snappier drums, none of that lofi that just starts to sound gunky after a while (like the strokes, I like This Is It and Room on Fire but it's the same fooked microphone sound all the way through).

Just saw this on the Muse.mu comments, strawberry floating rofl. (bold added for hypocrisy/sheer ridiculousness.

i've already commented on this rubbish song, but i wanted to say Muse/Matthew has so0o0o much more talent and potential which seems suppressed and limited by whoever is behind their music pulling the strings. perhaps the industry tell then not to show their true creativity. the song is weak, goes around with no real emotion. cant believe is was compared to Fury, WTF. absolute rubbish. why is the music industry so bend on not allowing artist to do what they do be their original self. its all administered and dictated. prime example the presenters at KROQ with muse kept praising the song like it was Jesus's second coming, get the strawberry float out of here! we need more critics to keep these artists in check! its a duty to their Fans who support them through the years! if your young, and started listening to Muse when Starlight came out then you dont understand. im a long time Muser and have felt forced to like their newer songs. the golden era for this group was their first 3 albums. true musers will understand. this song and Dig Down are examples or artists selling out and losing heart. I appreciate Muse are experimental but this is so bland. i will say one thing through Drones was a glint of hope for this Band, i just hope their 8th album has no more or this stupid pop/imagine dragons vibe music. RIP. cave, showbiz, citizens erased, bliss, hysteria, stockholm syndrome P.S Still love you guys! :)

I could not describe that song as bland

Yeah sure, the band have a duty to the fans to not sell out and not be told what to do by the record producers to get more numberrrrs. Which means writing the same music from 1999 over and over again, forever, which is what a sell-out band does. :fp:

I think the song is bland as strawberry float to be honest. The only thing it's got going for it is the whoa-whoa bit through the whole song, which despite being pretty unoriginal is a real earworm. The rest of the song might as well not exist, the verses are completely by the numbers.

Also I keep wanting him to say "you've been bit by...... A smooth criminal!'

I'll always defend them as a live band and will go and see them any time, but I doubt I'll buy another record from them as they're so bad now.

Chorus is alright but I agree that it sounds like some Imagine Dragons wank. Slow, plodding, dull.

Who the strawberry float are Imagine Dragons?

All I find funny is the idea that a band past their golden years is being tugged around by record producers. It's the opposite - Muse don't have producers anymore when they clearly benefited from them (their early demos are honestly not that good), they don't rely on the solid experience and experimental encouragement of the best engineers in music studios around the world - they have their own facility with the choice of literally any gear they could possibly want, which means no improvisation - so it's now that their turning out some mush. It's why often a rehearsal room tape recording just sounds more musical than something churned through Pro Tools for 100 hours.

Fans find it hard to accept that a band's sound is changing/has changed/is gooseberry fool/they don't like it. But nah it's not the band, it's the evil music corporations.

Just accept you don't like their music anymore and move on. It's super emo

I would have loved to see them somewhere like the Astoria circa 1999, but they was a taste of that at Brighton. So that's what I hold out for, and I don't think I've bought an album since Resistance (which I'd give a solid 6).

That fan select show must have been amazing. Maybe it's time they called it in a did a Best Of live album (although some of the better setlists they've done are just like that).

And to think it's been over 20 years since they formed :dread:

I really hate the new song. Lots of styles going on in there, none of which I like. Looking forward to the album in November though.
