I'm indifferent to the new one to be honest, it's better than Dig Down at least. But it really does sound like A Little Respect by Erasure.

Surprising again. I'm starting to get the last song stuck in my head (the sort of spooky one). It's quite nice they've released 3 singles fairly recently, I can just queue them up online as they're available for something new from the band after listening to a classic album. However that's been their intention for a while to pretty much stop doing albums.

Which I'm looking forward to anyway.

Going by that new song, this statement still stands strong.

I’m all for a band changing styles but not when it’s utter shite

That album cover is hillarious. I'll listen now.

Kind of disappointed I've already heard 3 of the songs, I like Thought Contagion and Something Human the most of the 3. Dig Down is OK, just a bit repetitive and not much to it. But Muse have a habit of releasing some of their weaker and poppier tracks as singles for some reason, I guess that speaks for their current giant audience.

No doubt the tour will be great and I hope to catch this one (didn't see Drones although I like the Album, 2 tracks from that was enough for me at the amazing and heavy Brighton "Psycho Tour" show).

Hmm I can't help but feel as some of Bellamy's lyrics have alluded to in the past he's breaking free from the band's signature sound and going on these "journeys" through albums.

Another one for the "mood" pile then, there's a wealth of tracks I'll go to for rock - the new album's either going to be a mad mix of things whereas Drones was probably the most "Marshall" sort of sound we were going to get, or it'll be a solid 80s revival / synth-pop focus (which I felt they almost did with with parts of the Resistance, but whatever).

If he's barely going to touch the guitar then maybe we will get some piano again? I think in interviews he's said been playing a bit more piano again - something almost completely missing from their first album in the first place, as Matt didn't think it was cool or something.

The state of that cover :dread:

Oh we all in a simoolashun 3 deep 5 me

That song would be alright if the synth bit was played on guitar, as it stands it sounds like an 80s version of hysteria but not good.

I've not liked anything they've done since drones, but I won't pass on a tour as while you'll have to wade through some shite, they remain a superb live act (the drones tour in Berlin was incredible).

I think the key thing that's changed is, where are the band? Howard is basically playing triggers most of the time, it's electro-rock/pop quite a lot. Wolstenholm seems to have almost disappeared in terms of driving, pounding basslines and the whole chromatic, blues, bass runs thing.

On the other hand the whammy has made a bit of a return in recent tracks but, I think the band got lost in production a while ago. They really need to just sit down and make some bloody rock music, or jam more or something. Pick up to amp. That's why the drones tour was so good, relatively speaking.

The obvious answer is to see them live, the band is very much there. But it doesn't always feel like it in these tracks. It's more like listening to a movie.

I quite like The Dark Side. Reminds me a bit of Easily. It's a lot better than bloody Dig Down and Thought Contagion.

Easily is an awesome b side.

I'll need to listen to it again with any bass, of course. Laptop speakers are shite.

Just realised I don't even have my monitors hooked up anywhere at all and I've been in this house for 6 months now. What am I doing. The audiophile in me must have died without me noticing.

Enjoyed the new album. That's two good albums dropped this week that I forgot were even coming out (the Prodigy being the other one.)

Loving the new album. Played it twice yesterday. Some excellent stuff on there.

In other news, I’m off to see Muse for the first time! London Stadium 1st June, standing!

The acoustic gospel choir version of Dig Down is brilliant.

I really enjoyed the new album. Still pretty undecided on my favourites but there are no outright stinkers for possibly the first time since Absolution, which is a huge step for me.

Sitting on tickets for London Stadium (expect a second show so I'll get a ticket for that too) in July and the Royal Albert Hall next month, so it's a good thing too!

Anyone else seeing Muse tonight at the London Stadium? Been here for a few hours already and seen loads of different old tour tshirts around Westfield.

Tom Morello at 7pm and Muse at 8.30. Bring it on

Not bothered by the first support (Pale waves)
