Changing the lyrics of regular songs to fit whatever shite you're hawking should be punishable by death.

I'm getting sick of seeing so many vegan meat substitute ads, not a single one of them look nice in the slightest, let alone edible.

That fake as strawberry float ad promoting getting into teaching. The one with the him, young, friendly northern high school teacher in the grimmest looking school I've ever seen. Not a single light on.

You think that's grim? My secondary school was worse than that.

My school looked exactly the same, to the point where I wasn't sure if we went to the same one

I was only there for about a year, but my high/secondary school was visually impressive on the outside and a complete shithole within. I remember in winter the heating didn't work for a sustained period and we all had to wear coats.

Yeah me too. I've nothing against veggie/vegan food, I often have a few meatless days each week, but I can't stand how ubiquitous the advertising of meat substitutes has become. There's so much good veggie cuisine out there that doesn't involve highly processed protein.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

My secondary school was split between two sites, the years 7-9 were in the newer 'lower' site which wasn't too bad (was like a strawberry floating maze though and one of the corridors smelled oddly like celery soup), the years 10-13 were in the older 'upper' site, which was truly dire.

Both sites were demolished around 15 years ago, the lower site replaced by houses and the upper is now a larger school (Academy) campus for years 7-13.

I've no point of comparison between the upper and lower sites (I was at what became the upper site before the schools merged) but the upper site was always pretty grim even before the merger. My GCSE years were during the merger, it was great "learning" on a construction site. I actually went back for an open evening just before they demolished it and I was surprised at how much more rundown it seemed.

It's not a bad advert per se, but I get irrationally wound up by the Vrbo advert with the Kermit the Frog song as backing music. It annoys me that they've chosen a song sang by Kermit the Frog, yet he doesn't appear in the advert and they make no hint of anything related to Kermit at all. I don't know why that annoys me, it just does  :fp:

caught the new advert with this overhyped boxing announcer now doing these ads :dread: :fp: seriously why? yes he is good for boxing but he sucked when he made his F1 appearance and struggled to pronounce some of the driver's names :slol: but him going "Betfreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed" in these ads sounds so dumb :fp:

Talking about secondary schools, mine was a very old crusty building. We were told we were getting a new gym in year 7. They didn't build the new gym till after we had left!

I don't really watch live TV now apart from sport, so it's not that often that I see adverts. But damn, watching the F1 at the weekend - so many shitty ads :dread:

It's honestly like they try and set out to make them as annoying as possible - horrendous cover versions of songs, annoying straplines that make no sense, irritating voices, stupid premises, etc. I think that because we're just bombarded with shitty adverts through so many channels now (TV, radio, websites, apps, billboards, magazines, post, podcasts, etc) they just blur into one annoying mass of noise that I want to blackout as much as possible, and it makes some things (like commercial radio) unbearable.
